I wouldn't be surprised if five to seven years from now NASA comes up with a new engine that cuts the ETA in half. Imagine if they launch another probe that gets there before the first.
isnt that what happend with saturn and the cassini probe? they lauched that one in like 1987 and then another in 1995 and arrived within months of each other?
Only things to Saturn that were close to each other were the Voyager probes. They were 9 months apart, one in November 1980 and the other in August 1981.
Voyager 2 was launched first, but Voyager 1 was on a better trajectory, so it made the trip to Saturn first.
Cassini launched in 1997, and entered orbit of Saturn on July 1st, 2004.
