would be nice to see the average higher, it's kind of scary to look at how much the top 10 contributors paid. And think about all the normal people who probably pay well over the minimum. Yet it's still so damn low. Means a lot of people are paying probably a quarter.

Well, Munchma Quchi gave $180, which is nice.

I believe you have to pay over $1 to get keys, and this one doesn't have DRM-free downloads for the games.

I paid for the deal through Paypal and then the transaction never finished on the Humble Bundle side (a window popped up saying it was waiting for Paypal transaction, but never went away). Now I paid for it, but have not received any keys and it does not show up in my Humble account.

Has anyone had this issue? I contacted customer service.

Good deal though.

Edit: Received it now, just took a little while. I did not think that it went through.

That is tempting, with a couple adjustments on who exactly gets the money. Very surprising to see EA do this to be quite frank.

I'd pay $5 for dead space 3 alone. My favorite part about humble bundle is that it allows you to adjust the amount to each charity. Go go $10.

It's the only way they could think of to get me to install Origin -- their evil scheme may even succeed.

When it says that games are "available via Origin and Steam with a purchase of $1 or more," does that mean for less than $1 we don't have to use either? What if we pay more than $1, can we still not use either?

I think the fine print at the bottom explains it pretty well.

<$1: Soundtracks only
$1+: Steam keys for Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor, and Mirror's Edge. Origin keys for everything too. So with $1 you can choose which platform you want to use for most games. Dead Space 3 is Origin only.
Beat the average (~$4.69): All of the above, plus Sims 3 starter + Battlefield 3. Sims 3 + Battlefield 3 are both Origin only.

Edit: No games are download-only, they're all Steam or Origin so you have to pick one. Only the soundtracks are direct download.

Steam, Origin, whatever, this is insanely hot. I paid $10 (for charity, or I would have paid $.01 above the average). Amazing for all of this. I already had a couple of the games (Burnout in Steam, Mirror's Edge in Origin), but now I have them on both platforms, which is nice.

Wow... EA's download server is pretty bogged down, too. I'm only getting 1.1MB/Sec max on my 100Mbps connection (actually just fell to 800kB/sec).

/Yes, I might be a bit spoiled

UPDATE:

Looks like Dead Space 2, Medal of Honor Airborne, Bulletstorm, and Red Alert 3 w/ Uprising expansion will be added as bonus games next week, based on those entries being updated in the Steamdb at the same time as the other HB games.

I still think one or two Origin-only games will be in the bonus round, as well, since EA wants to get people onto Origin. Any bets on what game or games that might be?

I am new to Steam and this is only my 2nd HB experience. I have a few questions please.

1. If I create an account at HB does that secure my download page links better than if I didn't have an account? Or should I copy and paste the keys and save them on my computer and then delete the link page at HB?

2. Is it best to enter the keys in Steam or Origin ASAP?

3. What if I already have a game or don't want one of the games? Can the key be traded or given away? What if I already entered the key in Steam or Origin?

4. What is the deal with the soundtracks? Are they for the games or just for listening? Or do I download them and add them to Steam or Origin somehow?

I use Firefox and NoScript and I had to allow a certain site for the transaction to work. I'm pretty sure the same thing happened a week or so ago. It may have been amazonaws or pubnub.

Yes, though signing up for an account at HumbleBundle will also allow you to reclaim any bundles purchased with the e-mail used to create the account. All of my previous bundles were reclaimed when I finally got an account.

2. Is it best to enter the keys in Steam or Origin ASAP?

Depends on what client you prefer to launch from. It's probably best to activate through Origin if you don't have an aversion to it or already plan on activating some Origin-only games. They do have live chat for tech support on Origin, which can be nicer. No matter what, you will still be getting all the EA DRM on these games, regardless of using Steam or Origin.

I'm no fan of Origin, but I had to install if for Crysis 3 a while back. It's not as bad as it used to be. EA is still the devil, but they aren't taking a dime of the money given to HB for this bundle.

3. What if I already have a game or don't want one of the games? Can the key be traded or given away? What if I already entered the key in Steam or Origin?

Morally, and legally, you aren't supposed to split up the codes. Technically, nothing is stopping you from splitting up the codes. Unlike the Deep Silver Bundle that only had three codes that packaged multiple games together, this bundle has all separate keys. It seems most (I haven't checked all of them yet) of the games have DIFFERENT keys for Steam and Origin versions. The only oddball is the Sims 3 Date Night DLC which is redeemed through the Sims web site.

4. What is the deal with the soundtracks? Are they for the games or just for listening? Or do I download them and add them to Steam or Origin somehow?

They are for your listening pleasure. Humble Bundle started the tradition of offering something "extra" for gamers in these bundles. It might be prototype versions of the games, soundtracks, or even source code.

For those with a full hate-on for anything related to Origin, step back and re-examine things. I resisted Steam when it first came online, and while EA will never really let Origin be anything but a wannabe "Steam clone" marketplace for EA's offerings, they are working on it. There are a few worthwhile Origin-only games. Sales talk, and EA has already backed away from many stupid things they've tried to do, but missing out on a game you paid a few bucks for (none of which went to EA) just to avoid Origin is kind of silly.

If it helps you see things more objectively, consider that there are people who hate Steam as much as some of people hate Origin, and they aren't playing ANY of the games in this bundle.

Thank you BenJeremy!

One of my questions wasn't very clear and I apologize.

I guess what I meant to ask is should the keys be entered immediately after purchase or can I wait indefinitely to activate them on either client? Would entering them immediately reduced the chance of theft? Do the keys expire? If I enter them can they still be given away or traded?

Keys do not expire, I doubt they can be "stolen", and no, you cannot give them away once entered, but you can give them away before you enter them. As mentioned above, ethically, you should not sell them.

The only caveat is if Humble Bundle shuts down and the web link it provides listing out your codes no longer exists. The codes do not appear in an e-mail, so that is a slight risk. I'd just activate the codes sometime soon, but certainly you don't have to activate them all at once.

By the way, almost 700,000 bundles have already been sold. This is hot like fire, and it's amazing that nearly $3 million will be going to charity because of it. It's win-win-win. I hope EA at least gets a bit of respect for doing this. They're big, they can be a bit nasty, but they deserve kudos for this move.

Thank you Termie! I had no interest in selling the keys and I agree that would be the wrong thing to do. I just didn't want to enter a key if I wasn't interested in the game and someone else could use the key. Most of these look like keepers though .

I will keep a couple of copies of the keys for safekeeping. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Cheers

Yeah, I've gotten into the habit of keeping a note with all of my CD Keys on it, tracking which ones I've redeemed and which ones I haven't.

I use Tomboy for notes... it has been a great boon to organizing my life. Sure beats throwing everything into a notepad text file.

I mention this because if your Steam account ever gets hacked, they use the CD keys to prove ownership. My son managed to get his account "stolen" but I had all the keys handy to prove ownership to Steam support.

Oh, this is a very good thing for everyone to know. I'll be sure to save mine on at least 2 HDD's and a thumb drive. Thanks for the heads up!
