New idea for Google.

I was just searching for some info on a particular product via Google, and there is just so much to filter through. As I get a couple of pages in, it becomes hit or miss, and I've found over time that lots of great info can be missed on later pages, such as forum posts and first-hand impressions. I think Google should come out with a search tool that will search only forums and their respective posts. Leave all the other crap out. They can call it forumsearch.google.com. This way, your search results display only things that have been typed by the normal internet user, from which a lot of useful info lies.

With that said, I'm very bored, so everyone here must take the punishment of my rambling. Like it or hate it, it's just an idea.

EDIT: DeviousTrap took about a minute out of his time to create a decently working version of what I wanted (and the opposite too).

Yup, I'm inclined to agree. Whenever I have any sort of technical problem, and do a google search, I always find the answer embedded in some user forum.

I have an idea as to how to make this possible without even google adding it to their site...

Can someone give me a sample search result that they want found in a forum post?

Actually, I'd like to see the opposite. 90% of the time I use Google, I get tons of useless forum posts that have nothing to do with what I'm searching for. I have to go through page after page to find a non-forum post that will finally meet my needs.

I like both Dullard's and blurredvision's ideas. It just depends on what you're searching for at the time.

What about a search option that includes or excludes certain things. Like excluding forums. Excluding sh!tty deal sites that plague google. Things like that.

Let me know if its accurate. The way it passes the arguements for the searching can be improved, I just threw that up in about 60 seconds.

Not bad. Better if you could put the rest of the search query in the button - I clicked and I almost took out all the stuff in the end.

Wow, I have to say that it looks like that works pretty decent. Looks pretty simple as well with how you set it up. Now make me a toolbar with toggable forum/no forum switch.

I agree with both main ideas. There should be an engine for forum-only searching, and an engine for forum-excluded surfing. I've been on both ends of the spectrum, but regardless, there is more and more junk popping up on the first couple pages and it pisses me off. They've gotta start figuring out better ways to list them.

Next idea - give google access to the forum databases so they can spider the whole deal. Google has only found 2 of my posts on this forum so far.

Wait, don't they basically have that *exact* thing, but with newsgroups instead? For the longest time NG >> Forums for specific, problem-solving information. Has that changed?

i just did a search with my handle, it returned a lot of the AT threads i posted in. but it returned all the old posts that have either been archived or deleted cause most of them came up with Error 502.
