What upsets you then? You claim Newegg is lying that the original price was $349.99. How do you know its a lie?
If you don't know for a fact that Newegg never ever listed the sale price of the item as $349.99 (even if only momentarily) then what is there to be upset about?

It upsets me because it is a trick meant to swindle people. It has nothing to do with either market value or MSRP. It is simply a con to trick people into thinking they are getting a "discount".
As for dealing with it in the past in other types of purchases... that makes me even MORE upset at the tactic. I am aware of it and will never fall for it, but I am not upset because they are tricking me, I am upset because they are TRYING to trick me. Even though they fail, the attempt insults and angers me.

Well if you really want to think it thru, contemplate why the concept of MSRP even exists, let alone why it is that you or I even know what the MSRP is.
MSRP and market value are also just marketing tactics.
As for trying to trick you...I suppose if you really want to dig down into the philosophical issues you have with what is going on there then I suspect you'll end at the conclusion that anyone attempting to make any profit whatsoever is ultimately trying to trick you.
Both newegg and Intel are selling these at profit, and profit means they sold to you above cost, they tricked you man, con'ed you right out of your money into paying above cost for something.

Well, which is it then?

But if they take an X25-M 80GB G2, sell it for 400$ and write "original price 569$" then it is an attempt to swindle people. They are pretending it is discounted, instead of admitting that it is marked up due to lack of stock (Which is perfectly fair and honest to do).

Yes, it's quite sad for companies to take advantage of consumers on what is clearly a hot product due to supply being so low. I've just described every single console launch in existence and despite my feeble attempt at searching I have not seen your ire about the Wii, 360, and PS3.
I know what it is, clearly you are in love with the x25-m.
I "mounted" mine to the bottom of my case with same easy-remove tape. Hasn't moved yet.Originally posted by: runestone
What type/brand of mounting adapter have those who received the SDD's used to install in your 3.5" bays?
I'm looking at having to mail order one- I see a fairly large variation in prices and complexity for this simple device. I do miss having the old CompUsa store around; no one else here has any hardware like this.
What really bugs me is having to spend as much for shipping as the lower end products cost.
As far as I know, my OEM order will not have an adapter.

Do we know if a new driver is all it'll take to pass along the trim commands or if it'll require new hardware, especially for ICH-R/PCH-R RAID?

Something changed in the last two days. Had a pre-order at Amazon for the 160 G2 with a supposed shipping date of Sep. 21 to the 24th. Got an email Sunday that the order was cancelled because they didn't get any stock in. Tried BLT Monday morning, pre-ordered and everything seemed fine. Got an email today to call them and a voice mail about it. Haven't called yet but the order page says it is constrained and Intel is not taking any orders at this time. Not Available at all. I can still find the 80GB here and there at around 250 to 300$ but unless you want to pay over 600$ the 160 isn't going to happen. Wonder what the deal with Intel and the 160s is? Are the only suppliers getting stock the ones charging over 600$, and if so why? Or do that many more people want the 160 over the 80 and Intel didn't figure that out in time? One thing for sure they totally underestimated the demand.
Originally posted by: taltamirAlthough, if they increased the price much beyond what anyone else did, then dropped it, then wrote original price... then they are probably not trying to trick people, but are way out of touch with the market. (which earns my pity, not scorn). I have seen companies that seem clueless about things like the internet or supply and demand (usually small companies) and it is quite sad to look at.
