New iPad, need some apps

I've been using an Android tablet for 3 years, but for about the past year or so, Chrome has been unstable on a 1GB RAM device. Tabs constantly crash on both the tablet and on my similarly spec'd Moto G (2014). Pretty much all other apps I use (very few) didn't exhibit this instability, but I highly prefer the Web over native apps. Performance was never an issue (except on the Moto G running Marshmallow), but Chrome tab crashing is highly annoying. (As an aside, this has to be a very common problem on "budget" devices since 2015?)

At any rate, I've just picked up an iPad that works great but I've been leaving it at home until I replace some important apps. I realize Google is my friend, but you guys are possibly better. All I need to replace are:

Moon+ Reader - EPUB reader (iBooks?)
ezPDF Reader PRO - just use iOS' native support for PDF?
JuiceSSH - SSH client

iBooks (native reader) is a spectacularly good ebook app, so that's pretty solid. It can handle PDFs and EPUB easily.

SSH, I use Panic's app (Prompt 2), thought it's paid, it's good.

Doesn't answer your question, but I would recommend getting Infuse Pro for video playback on the iPad.

As for Chrome on 1 GB Android devices, I find it painful, at least on my Android tablet. Consequently, all I use my Asus Nexus 7 for these days is Netflix.

Gmail, Google Photos, Google Maps, Corner Tube (allows you to play YouTube videos in PIP window), Apple's Podcast app is ok, and they have a ton of podcasts to choose from, Amazon, Jet, Boxed.

You'll be impressed, lots of mature, well behaving apps.

I use the split screen a lot, and PIP, I primarily use Safari, switching to Chrome when a page misbehaves.

Be careful, it's a slippery slope to their ecosystem, I really like answering phone calls on my tablet, as well as texting, when paired to an iPhone.

iPad Pro 9.7". Hopefully the rumors of a 10.5" iPad Pro aren't true, that sounds like a near optimal size for the technical reading I do. This is my first Apple device since the iPhone 3G.

Although iOS is known to be highly memory efficient, I've had a lot of luck with Android on low-end devices. However since about a year ago, Chrome (or modern AJAX-y Web apps) just seem too memory hungry to operate on 1 GB devices.

I much prefer Google's ecosystem, so I don't see myself switching back to the iPhone. But getting an iPad is almost a no-brainer compared to other Android tablet offerings.

I have the larger IPP, really like it, very close to a laptop replacement.

Google does a great job with apps on iOS.

You're right, but there are (at least) a couple problems with Apple's walled garden:
You can't choose your own default apps
Chrome is just a UI skin over WebKit

So the integration can be a little lacking.

Marvin is better for epubs if you do a lot of long form reading. A lot more formatting options. ibooks does okay with pdfs, but again its pretty simple. If you need lots of tools you'll want a 3rd party option. The biggest reason to stick to ibooks is that it's integrated into the OS. IE its easy to share stuff with it from mail or dropbox, etc.3rd party apps are always a little more spotty in their support there.
