Learned from their past mistakes? Only after the complaints go public to thousands of TV networks arround the world. Until then they will just act like the problem doesn't exist. Or better yet they will wait a year, release a upgraded product and act like the older product never existed (20 Gig Gen2 Ipod anyone?).

i was skeptical, but i went to the Apple store and played with the iPod mini for a little.

you've got to hold one in your hands to appreciate it. it's tiny and really feels great in your hands.

i just wish it had a little more capacity.

I really like everything apple. They have really innovative technology, but their prices are so ridiculously over the top on everything. I was considering an ipod because it had more space than an iriver mp3 player, but it has a few less features and some useless ones like solitaire and they charge u for everything that every other good mp3 player has standard. AN IPOD ARMBAND IS $30 DOLLARS WTH

Do they use some special NASA elastic in their armbands, seriously. Needless to say I ordered my iriver flash player last night. If they would just throw in some extras (other than something useless like laser engraving) it would become a lot more attractive. Not to thread crap though.

Best price I have seen on an ipod so far. Nice find

hm tempting deal but still i agree.. overpriced apple as usual. i think the fact apple people will pay the higher $ is keeping them afloat, but also keeping them from going anywhere

I think Apple is being smart-bad for us. They keep the price on their product high, so they don't flood the market. If the regular Ipod was lower in price, and I bought it, I doubt I could justify buying the mini ipod. But, right now since I don't have any of the ipods, I would consider buying the mini. Basically, they are trying to cover all price points and all needs.

Apple knows its in a niche market, and doesn't want to ruin it for themselves.

And think about it, this exactly how the auto industry does it-look at bmw and mercedes.

Only by $4. Education prices 4GB iPod mini = $229 15GB iPod = $269 20GB iPod = $369 40GB iPod = $469

I was thinking of purchasing either the Mini IPod or the reg 15GB model. is the Mini that much smaller??? Im not a big apple fan, but unless someone can recommend a comparable mp3 player. I do like the creative labs selection, but i have not heard much feedback on them. Plus i saw one model, jukebox zen, at best buy and it was wasy to huge to carry around.

If anyone can tell me how the two apple models are in size, i would appriecate it. Id rather go with the 15GB one if the size isnt that bigger than the mini.

You definitely have to hold one to appreciate it. Apple's design engineers deserve some kind of award for this thing, it just feels so good to hold it. The regular iPod is good too, and if you really need all that music at once, fine. But 1000 songs is plenty for me, and this is one gadget that you'll love using.

Great price too from Target.

I think it's smaller. At first, from the pictures I've seen, I didn't think so, but when I saw them at the Apple store and actually held one in my hand... Wow! They're very small and they weigh almost nothing. If you think the zen was huge and heavy, I'd definitely recommend taking a look at the mini. You'll be blown away.

I was originally leanning towards the 20GB iPod until I saw the mini... I think that's what I'm gonna get now. The only thing still holding me back is whether I want to have the 20GB model so I can store all my music for when I'm on the go, or would the 4GB mini suffice. So far the mini has the edge because I don't think I'll really need my whole music collection with me all the time and because the mini is so light weight, I can take it with me when I go biking. And if I really do need more storage, I can just pick up a larger capacity model later down the road.

Oh, and there's also the issue with which color to get: Silver or Blue.

Sorry for the long post...

if you're going to do that, you might as well go for the muvo since it's only $199 @ amazon for pre-order plus you can be assured that removing the drive out of the muvo will work.

One thing to keep in mind is that the more music you have the more you have to navigate through. Personally, I go through phases in my music selection - sometimes I listen to jazz other times pop and then some classical...it varies. So, I intend to keep these sets and I can store a complet set or a few complete sets on the mini and that works perfectly for me. I would rather not have to navigate through EVERY piece of music I have.

for those of your woried about size, 4G is about a 50 hours of music, the battery lasts maybe 12 hours, you can move songs on and off it fast.

Why does no one understand that people like me do not care for more than n hours of music? I want a mini for the size.

I don't you'll be seeing any of them in stores before April 1st. The post above about target.com having them backordered until 4/2 backs up my statement.

Correction. That's 70 hours of music and a 8 hour battery.

The mini is COOL. If you don't understand you have to hold one. It's also much more durable that the finish on the original iPods.

Bought mine in blue the day then were announced!

I'll tell ya. I have a second gen 10GB iPod, which is right before the smaller form factor. The Mini is just tiny. I have my 10GB model fairly full, to the point where I keep contemplating an upgrade, as I have a replacement contract on mine. I still had trouble leaving the iPod Mini, besides for the fact that the Apple Store was sold out. I had to keep reminding myself that I like to use my iPod with documents and working files, so the extra space is a necessity to me.

Still though, that thing is absolutely sweet.
