New Ipods revealed

The iPod touch is not going to work for me. They put too much on it.

Here's what I told a friend

sygyzy: the more i am kind of turned off
sygyzy: they are putting TOO much on it
sygyzy: because now i want to carry this thing everywhere
sygyzy: like an accessory
sygyzy: because wow wouldnt it be great to have all this stuff at your fingertips
sygyzy: PDA essentially
sygyzy: calendar
sygyzy: browse the web
sygyzy: but oh wait
sygyzy: now i have to carry a phone, wallet, and ipod
sygyzy: wouldnt it be nice to have it together
sygyzy: oh wait that's called an iphone

Now that the 8GB iPhone dropped to $400, the chioce is clear. Look at it this way. People used to carry cell phones and pdas (and sometimes mp3 players). Then they got smart and made smartphones. Now you expect me to go backwards? What if they made Treos without the phone. Who would buy it?

they have wallets built in to those iphones? no wonder they sell like hotcakes. :laugh:

honestly, I tend to carry my Zune a lot of places in one of my cargo pockets, because I don't want to leave it baking in the car (have it on a dock to listen to while I drive). Now, in the winter I'd just leave it in the car if I go somewhere, but I won't be driving many places in the winter due to school, no where that I really need to drive too considering I live on campus. However I definitely see where you are coming from.
However, I'd like the features of an iPod touch (i'd use a lot of them actually), however no way am I paying that kind of money for that skimpy of storage. It'd be filled on day one, and that's without video and no room for more music as time goes on. Not cool. Plus that'd be if I paid for the $400 model.

The iphone still has PHONE capabilities, the touch doesn't. I don't see what's so funny? Some people want the all in one type deal.

lol, no kidding. I was just going to say, why would anyone buy an iPhone now with the iPod Touch having all the good features (the iPhone's email client is a joke and the phone itself isn't too great). Then they announced the pricedrop, which is impressive...but makes me wonder just how much under expectations iPhones sales are performing.

well played by Apple. They new the iPhone would sell like crazy as soon as it came out, regardless of the asking price. So why not rape the customers at first, then after the initial rush, drop the price to induce further sales? Greatest marketing scheme ever, that's how Apple operates too. Half the reason I don't own any of their products. The other half is they suck. My Zune has better audio quality (although iRiver tends to offer the greatest AQ, that and some of the Creative products). Video on it also destroys Apple's offerings.

the iPhone got a price drop to $399 for the 8gb model, and dropped the 4gb model. That's what he was referring to, doesn't really have anything to do with the iPod Touch.

I'm currently arguing with a "apple guy" friend of mine about this. He insists that they aren't overpriced, even with the iPhone price drops!! (which he also didn't think were overpriced at $599).

They need to make a MEDIA iPod Touch that's a little fatter, but has 160GB of storage. for $350.

What is this 5.5gig video everyone talkin about? I never seen it ? But, I like this iPodTouch because I want a iphone but don't want cingular. Therefore, this is perfect to go along with my Verizon phone.

Why? It's not illegal to make a profit. It's also not illegal to drop prices and not refund the difference.

It isn't crap for most people. I'm willing to bet that 95% of people who have ipods dont use more than a couple gigs of storage on them.

I have a 40 gig harddrive on my laptop (the only computer I currently have), and I am still only using 25 gigs of storage on it after 3 years of owning it.

I haven't filled my 4GB Nano yet. I see no reason to loads albums worth of crap when I only like particular songs.

I am not saying that lawsuit is warranted and believe me when I say that I applaud Apple for being pure marketing wizards that they are. I am talking about one of the America's most favorite knee-jerking reactions as of late: piss me off for whatever reason, and I'll sue you. You don't have to go too far to see this theory at work, just read about people suing Apple for making iPhone batteris non-user replacable.
