I was disappointed there was no Beatles announcement.
I never understood people's obsession with this...what are you expecting, Jobs to dig up Lennon and Harrison and parade their corpses on stage with Ringo and McCartney, then sell the video of it on iTMS? A yellow waterproof iPod? New Abbey Road album cover with silhouttes dancing across the crosswalk?

Obviously they aren't releasing any new music, if you're even the most casual Beatles fan, you already own their music, and if you own an mp3 player of any sort, it's probably on there in digital form...what am I missing?!

I was really hoping for a nano with more space but that 16g touch ipod is looking really tempting...
If it was 32 Gigs I'd buy it with (only a minor hesitation because it's damn expensive.)

After looking at Apple.com, the touch ipod looks like it's missing some of the iphone features like weather, mail, maps, calendar, and notes.

everyone that is saying they are waiting for the 100+gig iTouch to drop before they buy, it isn't gonna happen. At least until SSD hits a reasonable price for that size drive. They named the iPod Classic that way so they can kill it off no problem next Generation.

I pity the sheep who bought their iPhones at release for full price. It hasn't even been that long!

80/160 GB iPod Touch and I would have been sold.

Now, I don't know. Might just go for an 80 GB classic since I'll never have 160 GB of music... and the screen is way too small for video.

One thing is for sure, Apple is gonna sell a buttload of iPhones for the Holidays.

My next purchase will be a 16GB Touch, though I'm probably going to use a new 8GB Nano for day-to-day stuff.

Actually, if you visit boards like Digg, Engadget, Gizmodo, there's already an outcry brewing.

free will.

stop crying and move on.

How's the ipod touch gonna work? It still seems kinda retarded to have no tactile feedback.

the touch looks good, I was kind of hoping they would leave all the non phone features of the iPhone on it, but as you said it looks like it's stripped down. My neighbor carries on about some damn shopping list app his iPhone has. If Apple had made the touch a hybrid iPod + PDA'ish I would jump on it. But, it runs a version of OSX right? so maybe it'll be hacked and owners could put all the non phone app's from the iPhone on it.

Regardless I"m thinkin about getting one, 16 gigs is plenty of storage for me, yeah I got like 55 gigs of music but how much do I need loaded at one time?

I'm in the same boat as you, i have 60+ gigs of music and currently have an older 20 gig ipod and cant stand it. Its always full so when i want to add new music i have to take off music on there already. And i use it in my car and at the gym so its just a bummer when i have to take off music to add more.

Hopefully they will be announcing larger sizes but it doesnt seem like it will happen any time soon.

On another forum, I've seen at least one person say he got a refund for his iPhone bought back in July. Apparently there's no policy for refunds yet, it's being handled at a store-by-store basis.

I don't know why they'd even refund it outside of their normal policy. Microsoft isn't issuing refunds for all the people who paid $480 for the 360 Elite. No one was threatening a lawsuit there.

I just checked and my music collection is about 10gb. Just like my Mini, I'll probably never put all of it on the ipod, so I may just get the 8gb model if I decide to buy one.

The (overall) battery life really worries me though. I'd probably use it for a fair bit of wifi web browsing and it'd see a lot of charge cycles.

Well, my Cowon A2 STILL beats every crappy ipod in apple's array. Why do these things sell so well? HORRIBLE formats, crappy DRM itunes, and a screen half the size of some competitors. Apple is feeding on a mis-informed market, and should be shot.

?

They are offering a solution from the wallet to the desktop to the pocket...people pay $$ for that....

It's not like other competitors can offer interfaces that dazzle and wireless shopping ( I think some do).....I have no idea why they haven't stepped up to the plate....

it's a web site? oh I don't know, I just know he loves the shopping thing on his phone, it being some sort of web site makes sense. Since the touch has Wifi I don't see why it couldn't be hacked to run Safari with realitive ease. Of course what do I know?
