Haven you read the thread? The BCM has been replaced multiple times!

Master mechanics are only as good as the pieces of crap they're trying to fix

My bad. It's 40 pages. I skipped 20 of them.
Sorry Kaido. I'll edit my post.

-edit- redundant question on BCM. Sorry, Kaido.

Currently on BCM #4, fwiw

I'm considering getting a cheap EV lease. There's a charging station within 2 minutes of walking distance from my work now. An 82-mile Leaf is $199/mo with $0 down. Max I do for my work commute is about 75 miles in one day, but it's typically 50, so there would be some range anxiety, but there are chargers all over the place now so it's not a huge deal (other than the wait time). They have a 107-mile Leaf available, as well as a 92-mile Kia Soul EV, if I do want something with a bit more headroom. The Bolt would be great, but I'll have to see what the lease offers are; I'd love a Volt, but a $0-down, 36-month/12k-mile lease on a Premier model is $426/mo + tax, which is basically two Leaf leases haha. The benefit of a cheap EV lease is that it would be pretty close to what I pay for gas every month anyway. So I could, in theory, park the Renegade until I pay it down & just use the EV, so my monthly budget wouldn't really change much because then I wouldn't be paying for gas (although gas at today's prices are probably closer to $120 to $150 per month). Mentally that is a stupid solution, but in practice I wouldn't be relying on a defective Jeep for transportation & my monthly car budget wouldn't change all that much, but I'd also have a gas car for backup for longer trips. Be cheaper tho just to roll the negative equity from a KBB trade into another car (~$70/mo loan or ~$110 extra on a lease).

No worries, it's mostly just page after page of me complaining

Current status is that I am annoyed on principle that Jeep is being dumb about resolving my lemon issues. I'm holding onto the car right now until I figure out what I want to do with it. No good options presently.

I have no beef with the dealer or the dealer's service people. They've tried the best they can to take care of me & always give me a loaner when I call ahead. My only issue is that I have a lemon & Jeep is refusing to do the right thing (either replace the car or refund me). Legally, at the present time, the best I can do is lemon-law it for the number of days in the shop, but that will only net me market value, leaving me on the hook for the $4k difference in the remainder of the loan, which I am not okay with for obvious reasons.

Hey Kaido check out the upcoming Jeep Compass if you are looking to get a new vehicle. Looks sharp.

Yeah, it's kind of like a more masculine Cherokee. The Trailhawk looks really good. Unfortunately, I think I'm done with Jeep products indefinitely after this ordeal.

put a giant penis car cover on it and then ram it into the rear entrance of Chrylser headquarters, so you can fuck them in the ass for once.

There's still hope then!

Because I don't have any good options with lemon-law right now, I won't get a full payoff or a loan payoff, just market value, which means maybe, possibly, Jeep will eventually swap the car out at some point in the future, which would at least get me out of the defective vehicle. I would take that at this point simply to get out of the lemon. Unfortunately, KBB on a brand-new Renegade with zero miles is nearly the same as my 10k-mile used model, so I still wouldn't be able to trade it in now without losing money...but at least I'd have a (hopefully) working car lol.

Are you intentionally being an ass, or do you really think after this ordeal the OP (or anyone for that matter) should bother looking at a Jeep?

Picked up the car today. They don't know why the lights went bonkers. Picked it up this afternoon & parked it in the lot at home. Crazy-loud alarm went off a few minutes ago. Alarm refused to turn off for 5+ minutes. Woke up half my neighbors. Awesome. I finally got into the car (was able to start it & shut it down, tried opening & closing the doors, pushing all the buttons on my keyfob, etc.) & was just about to pop the trunk to cut the battery when the alarm magically stopped. Whaaaaaaat the crap. My car is haunted

My Versa's alarm will go off if I so much as look at the button on my key fob but it won't turn off even if I mash it in. I have to insert the key into the drivers side door and turn the key to turn it off. Does the Jeep have a similar feature..is it a feature on all cars maybe?

Both of my Jeep's keyfobs are very sensitive...it will set off the alarm if my pants stretch against it (no joke, I have to keep the fob in my shirt pocket because of that). The manual says you have to push & hold the button, but yeah, if you so much as breath on either of mine, it sets it off. Or it just goes off randomly like mine does, haha.

Evidently Jeep Renegade = rebadged Ford Pinto

Again, just mine. I now have 3 friends with them, zero issues on any of them. I have talked to a half a dozen people on reddit & the renegade forums who have had the exact same issues as mine tho, so it's a recurring issue in a limited number of vehicles. I am going to push the arbitration company & the state this month as a final try, and if I don't get anywhere, I think I may just get a cheaper lease & roll the loan difference into it so I can get out of the car. My frustration level is pretty high.

for a guy that's getting fucked in the ass almost daily, you sure have an optimistic view of ford pintos jeep renegades.

Eh, I just realize mine in particular is a lemon & that not all models are goofed up.

The difficult part is that the existing state & company systems don't have a process that adequately solves recurring intermittent issues that cannot be fixed by a dealership. Even Jeep's I2R team follows some sort of flowchart that doesn't include any kind of customer goodwill system to take care of issues that fall outside what they are authorized to handle, which leaves it upon the consumer to eat the difference in cost if they want to trade it in themselves. It stinks, but that's the way it is right now. My last two options right now are (1) third-party arbitration using my new case number, and (2) retrying lemon-law now that I've been back several times to see if I can push for a full payoff (if not a complete refund). Barring that, the car is driving me so nuts that I am inching closer to being willing to trade it in early just to get it off my plate.

Also, having been to the dealership service center over a dozen times now, I am amazed at how many problems there are with FCA cars. I've been to plenty of service centers over the years & I've never seen any of them with as many problems as FCA has. The Fiats actually seem like the most reliable cars, actually...the top issues I've seen are Jeeps, followed by Dodge cars & RAM pickups. Jeep by far though, constant issues. Oh my gosh. So many broken new cars in their shop, it's amazing!

Kind of a shame because I love the way this looks.

I'd buy an older Jeep. Mechanical issues can always be fixed. Electronics are a nightmare.

Yup. I just ran into a lady yesterday who said she specifically bought an older Cherokee to avoid the transmission problems of the new ones.
