Lot of LCD 's and motherboards on display and will match New eggs pricing on CPU's. not sure on MB. I'll be there a lot! free coffee mug too. Good riddance CompUSA and Best Buy!

thanks for the news.

I live a bit far away but if the deals are solid I can always get up there.

Depending on where you are in South Jersey, there is always the one out near Villanova. Takes about 35-40 minutes if you arent on 42/76 during rush hour.

They match NewEgg prices?
I'll give that a try at the Mayfield Heights, OH store tomorrow...I'm betting they won't but hey, if you said it...I'll try it.
Thanks OP!

It's been my experience they won't price match anyone online at the Microcenter in Mayfield Heights. I couldn't even get them to sell me an OEM copy of Vista without them insisting I need to buy a motherboard even though I pointed out I could buy an OEM copy directly from their website without a hardware purchase. Most of the guys there are clueless and a bunch of smart arsses. They were trying to get an extra sale- I'll never shop there again.

In cincinnati they have always been good to me. Never had to have them pricematch newegg, because their cpu prices were actually a dollar cheaper last weekend when I went

For those of us who don't have Fry's, Microcenter is pretty good. I'm always at the Denver store.

A while back, Microcenter changed their pricing philosophy to compete directly with online stores, specifically the Egg... I have noticed that Microcenter will often price CPUs, etc. within a couple dollars of the Egg... Although I still buy most items online, it is very handy to be able to get items the same day if needed - especially on the weekend.

With their newer competive pricing, I think Microcenter is one step away from being the next Fry's. They have always had good prices on their sale items & larger items. Now they have good prices on their system build items. All they need to do is offer some more loss-leader items or combos like Fry's does.

I used to long for a Fry's to come into our area, but now Microcenter has eased the pain. The store is always busy, even in the middle of the day - so their strategy must be working! On the other hand, the CUSA in our area belly-flopped.

The Microcenter in Villinova will price match Newegg for CPUs and Motherboards. They do look it up however. Generally their prices are a bit more than online stores and in PA we have to pay sales tax but their return policy is excellent. No restocking fees, etc.

They also have a good selection of OEM drives both hard drives and optical and their prices are very competative..

Then there is the convenience factor for smaller items and did I mention their no hassle return policy?

I was in the new store in Northern NJ this week. Quite impressive I might say.
In general, there prices are decent on most items. Certainly higher than on-line with the exception of the cpu's. As noted, they advertise in the store they will beat Newegg's price on any processor. They actually have several desktops set up throughout the store with free web access whereby you can check current prices at Newegg, etc. if you need to.

Items like cables were actually cheaper than on-line because you didn't have those outrageous shipping charges. They have a flyer when you enter the store with some sale prices that were quite good. I'm not sure if it's for this location only.

Lastly, they mailed out a card good for a free Kingston 2 GB flash drive. Not bad for free, also they give you a Microcenter coffee mug everytime you exit the store. Oh yea, I was told by an employee that the grand opening celebration will be May 12th with some special giveaways.

Why dont they buy the compUSA store in Edison.
That would be nice change.

Also I dont mind if they buy the BestBuy and Staples in Edison, south Plainfield.
These are bad bad stores.

Eh, that CUSA in Edison is a crappy space. Now if they took over any of the stores across Route 1 from it (Home Depot, Stop & Shop, Office Depot, etc.), then you'd have something!
