That happened to me once. I mistakenly took a job and quit after three days. The guy didn't even blink, like he expected it and had seen it many times. They know they're dicks to their employees, so they just wait until someone is either dumb enough or desperate enough to stick around.

I'm confused how you were lied to. If you got an offer letter with the exact amount and structure in which you will be paid, and that is what you got, you weren't lied to. And, unless I'm missing something, them removing 5k from you bonus (paid over 4 years) is worth an extra 5k per year in salary.

And, it's your first week. You think they are going to just go "oh, new guy, take this important account!" Come on now, of course they were making shit up for you to do until you and they are comfortable easing you into actual work with clients.

But, 2 to 3 hour commute? Nope. I wouldn't have even interviewed.

I would have given it 2-3 months to see how it stabilizes. In a small company you have to wear many hats and do many things - keep that in mind next time you apply for a small company.

But if you lost trust, well, then trust is lost. Regardless of trust and giving it time, I would never sign up for a round trip 3 hour commute.

I understand being flexible for a small business, but that also doesn't mean bending over and getting screwed just because small business.

I had a job with a 3 hour commute, did shit jobs the entire time, was never happy and almost quit my first week.Ended up staying just over 5 years and rage quit one morning. Felt completely broken by then, still not fully recovered.

My last job broke me, same sort of deal - hated it my first week, they just piled on the workload until I gradually snapped and walked out (after 3 years). Now I watch for warning signs like a hawk and just trust my instinct, luckily the wife trusts me and doesn't get pissed!

Ha, I've quit 3 jobs in the past 2 years. Most were low key "this isn't going to work," no drama. i freelance on the side so walking from a 9 to 5 isn't that scary

My guess is that you can expect zero bonus for year 1, zero bonus for year 2, a gift certificate to Arby's on year 3 and a $500 bonus on year 4.

I was on year 4 when I got a $75 gift card to TJ Maxx. I'm not even kidding.
