I had a Socket 754 Sempron sitting around and I bought an MSI MS-7032 (Aka the K8T Neo-V) Motherboard for it. 1 gig Kingston-K Ram as 2 512 sticks, 160 GB WD SATA Hard drive (300/s). No onboard video so I bought an MSI RX9250 (Ati Radeon 9250) Video Card for it.
I know the CPU is ok, I had it in another system for a week, no problems.
I installed the drivers for the video and set the refresh up to 85 Hz. This Radeon installs two separate cards, a primary and a secondary, 128MB Total Ram on the Card.
When this thing is about to give me Blue Screen, first, the Mouse locks up so I can only move it left to right. Then I get the BSOD and the video is extremely distorted.
I removed the drivers and re-installed them, and I put in only the drivers and not the extra ATI stuff (Catalyst Control Center etc), all that crap that adds itself to your video display property sheet. It is not locking up as much, but the fact that is still doing it, is burning a hole in my head! Grr, when I make a "new" machine I don't expect blue screens until the thing is at leat 5 years old.
Any ideas? Bad Video card? Bad Ram? But I am not using any onboard Ram for the Video.
The other x64 board I have is the K8MM-V, It has an Athlon 3200+ (Not XP or Dual, just regular socket 754) and I am running the same video card on it, works great. But that machine is running Windows XP 64 but edition and it chokes on the ATI Catalyst Control Center that was made for x64.
These things stay on 24/7 and I can't have the thing just arbitrarily give me the blue screen of deth.
