Ahh... I did some checking on the gpu and it looks like they do benchmark quite a bit higher. You got me excited, except Newegg is out of stock of both of them and I can't seem to find them anywhere else

This is a frustrating process.
They come back in stock every few weeks, sign up for the auto notify that's what i did with mine. So far iv had this laptop for a month and i LOVE it. I even bought a small 60GB SSD as a boot drive. No problems with mine so far.
Actually found one in stock. Very tempting.... how is the touchpad quality on yours? I've read some complaints about it and a good amount of the time I'll be using it from my couch with it on my lap.
15" is much more portable than a 17", I have both and it's a big difference. Nobody is gonna sit on the couch with a 17" in their lap.
If you do get a 17" then you really need 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 and therefore a better video chip.
15" is fine with 1366x768 which means you don't need as fast a vid chip. Which is why you don't need to spend $900, or even $800, but the extra money you want to spend is good for the economy !
You don't need a gpu as good as the one in the HP, let alone the GTX 460m or the ATI HD 5870m. And you don't need SSD.
You need to impress some geeks, get a $900 laptop. You wanna impress the wife, give her the $300 you save getting a Dell or HP that will do what you want just fine.
