New Laptop suggestions

New Laptop
My company purchased me a Dell Inspiron 5150 last year and the thing finally dumped. The infamous overheating issue has fried two motherboards and now they want to replace the HSF because Dell believes that is culprit.

So to hell with Dell. I'm looking for a new laptop. Here are some requirements:

1600x1200 res
1GB RAM
Wireless B/G
Relatively light weight >7lbs
Excellent battery life (I spend 3/4 of my life on planes) - in fact, if I can do two batteries (I realize the problem with weight), I'll do it.

Suggestions?? I'm (well my company) is looking to spend around $2500. I'm not against Dell's but the heating issue has really put a sour taste about that company. I have also looked at Toshiba Tecra S2, HP, and IBM T42.

Thoughts, feelings, emotions??

I know you don't like dell but...

If you want a hp, trythis, it runs hot, weighs 10 lbs, and has about 1 hr of battery life, but if you really hate dell then this is the best I can think of for the price.

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 9300 after my old Inspiron 3200 finally kicked the bucket.

I have to say I am totally happy with my purchase and at 1600 dollars it was an awesome deal. ( I had a code for 800 off and 100 dollars off for a instant rebate)

Some of the specs:

17" screen
1 gig ram
6800go video (256mb video ram)
Intel pro wireless
1.8ghz pentium M

It has played every game I have thrown at it smoothly and with no heat problems. The best thing is it is much lighter than my friends Dell xps gen 2 laptop, but almost as powerful. It is actually something you could sit on your lap. I was a bit worried about the 1.8ghz processor but there have been no problems so far.

The Sony FS series is worth a look. A bit more expensive than Dell but good quality and a relatively small size.

T42's seem to have a good reputation. Looking into getting one myself, but expect to pay a good dollar for that kind of resolution. There are models with 1400 x 1050 resolution in 14" or 15" flavors that are more affordable. If you're looking to shop IBM, find the Mastercard/Visa, Student, or Employee Purchase discounts. You'll need a friend to hook you up with the employee discount.
