i have a personal problem when facing "mental issues" (hence why i absolutely hated Joker) and i just couldn't watch enough to give a vote.
That's...UNEXPECTED. Though I don't think Joker had mental issues. Harley Quinn is more mental than Joker.

Legend 1985 - 8.5

I'm giving Ridley Scott some slack for the age (I'm just GD benevolent *cough, choke). Cruise kinda sucks and Mia Sara at 16 years old in that black wedding gown . . . brrrrr. Chills.

Very trippy movie. Confusing at times. I enjoyed it. Tim Curry is just perfect as the Darkness.

Canelo vs Charlo at Super Middle Weight (168lbs)

What a snooze-fest. Charlo came out too slow and was overmatched. Canelo looked really good at age 33. Looked powerful and hunted down Charlo the entire fight.

Glad I streamed it and did not pay the $85

i have been with internet on my phone only for a few days so i watched again my offline library. I have now watched In The Heat Of The Night way more times that i am comfortable admitting.
Rod Steiger as the racist, but ultimately down-to-earth policeman is the real star of the cast.
I hate to say this - because he was an idol to my mother - but Sydney Poitier isn't much more than a competent actor; the issue of having a black man as a (clean, hollywood) film lead was revolutionary which gave him a lot more clout than he deserves of his own merit.
Anyway, reading the Wikipedia page i found out that his character, Virgil Tibbs, got made into something of a Harry Callahan as they went on to make 2 more films "starring Detective Tibbs", and Poitier agreed to be in them (kinda proving my earlier point).

They Call Me MISTER Tibbs !! - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066450/reference/

.. has none of the charm, skill or talent of the previous film. Just a regular, boring, badly paced, badly lit, badly written and badly acted cop film where Detective Tibbs faces off against political preacher (actor) Martin Landau, of recent Mission:Impossible fame.
Poitier is the cop, Landau is the criminal. That's it. There is no nuance, no interesting setting ("you're a POLICEMAN? here is SPARTA??"), nothing that you would have liked in Heat.

5/10
- a cash-in that has no redeeming values.

Smoking Causes Coughing - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15471560/reference/

french language film about a team of mock superheroes - the Tobacco Force, who use the negative effects of smoking to kill their enemies - battling rubber-suit monsters.
The film is an excuse to have other stories thrown in; during a campfire night out, of the the guys tells a story to the other - and they show that as a segment.
Meant to be a comedy, i found it to be absolutely horrible. Not a single laugh to be had. Maybe lost in translation, but more likely just shit.

5/10
.. barely

Even Cowgirls Get The Blues -- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106834/reference/

I did not watch this back 30 years ago when it came out because it was being promoted as a one of them new 'n upcoming "ELL GEE BEE TEE" films, and i thought well, i'm not a lesbian, so i guess this isn't for me.

Telling you about the story is kind of misleading, as the story isn't that important. Gus Van Sant film, the important thing is that this film is WEIRD, and Gus is full aware and complacent of this, taking his sweet time to focus on the weirdness over anything else. It's unfair to blame a film for lack of pacing when the film sets out to ignore these minutiae to begin with.

Young "Kill Bill" Uma Thurman is a girl who has been hitchhiking for most of the life. She also happens to have huge, mutated thumbs (that allegedly make hitchhiking easier) that are completely fucking irrelevant to the story, and could have been omitted with as difficult a move as removing the prosthetic, platicky thump cover-things.
She is brought to a "ranch", which is instead some kind of a spa retreat & combo actual ranch, for implied-lesbian art people, mostly models.
Eventually her good nature and socializing fires up their more rebellious nature and things get out of control.

.. i mean .. this film is about as coherent as Myra Beckenridge. Sure, the story is there, but you can't help asking "BUT WHY" pretty much all the time.

Cowgirls currently sits at an abysmal 4.2/10 on IMDB. I think this is a jolly good film that ought to be recommended to anyone who can appreciate the director absolutely not giving a flying fuck about any common film convention.

my vote: 7/10, with the caveat that, if you're a "normie", you will probably hate it.

@zinfamous ' kind of film

Sisyphis: the Myth (2020) on Netflix 8/10

A K-drama with sci-fi/time travel twist. There are 16 episodes that are each over an hour long.

It kept my interest so I watched it to the end. By the end I was wanting a second season.

The Creator https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11858890/

Went to see this coz of the good imdb rating.

First of all, it was hard to understand. Or maybe my brain is degrading really quickly. Couldn't make sense of why things were happening on the screen. All I understood is that Nirmata is fighting NOMAD (a space weapon) to keep it from destroying all forms of AI life, she falls in love with the lead actor, then dies, somehow makes a copy of her unborn child into a cyborg type child that will gradually gain the power to control all electronic things and then the lead spends a considerable length of the movie protecting the child. The cinematography was good but the colors were very muted which made the movie feel pretty depressing.

Despite some great sci-fi concepts (loved the walking bomb ), this is barely a 6/10 movie.

Or it was incomprehensible. AKA let's throw a few ideas together, add pretty pictures and hope that is good enough.

The Irrational: The Dead Woman Walking (S01E2) - 8/10

I gave ep. one a 10 and I'll stand by that. But this one was much more obvious. As long as they continue to focus on the psychological aspect though, I'll keep watching.

But if it lapses into "just another procedural," sorry, but I'm gone daddy gone.

New Forged in Fire - if you're a fan. And they've finally stopped being a bunch of cheap bastards with a $10k prize - it's now $30k. Inflation I suppose. Heehee. $20k to the winner and $10k in equipment.

Foundation S2. 8/10
certainly watchable, a little more focused on the central cast with a few additions. they are telling more focused stories and building some lore but it comes at the expense of making the universe seem smaller. the first season had so many various planets/peoples that it felt more multinational, with only the Cleons and the foundation as the main focus it loses some of the possibilities of those other planets. it is a goyer work so it is generally pretty grim with a pinch of clever.

Gen V (first 3 ep) 9/10
spin off of The Boys. set in between boy s3 and s4. college for powered kids with a heap of the fucked up world values of the Boys and its dark humor. definitely sets a tone from the start and just starts building.

I just realized that what I thought was electronic music is actually auto tune. I thought it was an electric sound effect. I guess both are true, technically. Still feel stupid.

My defense is that when the Moog synth came along, I was entranced. Sorta how I feel now about Ray Manzarek's playing (X - 80 something?). So I got used to electronic sounds early on.

Eye of The Needle - 8/10

Spy thriller - 1981 starring Donald Sutherland and Kate Nelligan

Very cool flick about a fictional German spy, cold and emotionless killer played wonderfully by Sutherland. Set towards the end of WW11, he's undercover in London. The film also introduces the audience to a newly married couple, who suffer a car crash on their way to their honeymoon.

The Germans know Patton is possibly preparing for an invasion, but only have it narrowed down to several locations. Sutherland's character discovers it is planned for Normandy, and sets out to return to Germany via Scotland to a U- boat.

He becomes shipwrecked on the way, and washes up on fictional Storm Island. Turns out the couple from the beginning have retreated to the island because the husband lost his legs. The wife is quite unhappy in this tense situation.

The husband is no dummy, and is immediately suspicious, having a military background. A romance develops between Sutherland and Nelligan's characters. Meanwhile the spy struggles to find a way to pass on his information, which would literally change the outcome of the war.

Very dramatic buildup to the end. I thought Sutherland was awesome here in that he was a cold hearted killer, totally devoted to his aim yet the romance got through to him on some level. He showed restraint in dealing with his love interest as she realized there was more to him than meets the eye.

I really enjoyed it. Some older movies become tedious for me with the older slow pace of building the story and character development, dated music etc but this was very well done.

Loki Season 2- 8/10 - weekly episodes.

Nice.. Wish there were more than 6 episodes for this season.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loki_(season_2)
Loki discovers that he is warped across time, as he attempts to escape the Time Variance Authority in the past and reunites with Mobius M. Mobius in the present. The two of them go to meet TVA agent Ouroboros "OB", who deduces that Loki is "time slipping", a phenomena that occurs due to the instability of the timeline branches caused by the death of He Who Remains. OB instructs Mobius to approach the Temporal Loom with a device called the Temporal Aura Extractor, which he would use to extract Loki from the time stream as he prunes himself. Loki time slips to the future, where he briefly encounters Sylvie before he is pruned at the last possible second. Mobius successfully pulls Loki from the time stream, and the two of them set out to find Sylvie, just as all TVA hunters are ordered to search for her. In a mid-credit scene, Sylvie enters a branched timeline in Broxton, Oklahoma in 1982, and visits a McDonald's restaurant.
