You should watch the first Dune from the 80's then. IMO it might give you a better understanding of what's going on.They don't but not gonna buy the book. I have a terrible habit of chewing on words while reading them so it takes a very long time for me to read a book and that time would be better spent on ATOT.
What even is this shit? And Timothee Chalamet is, physically, someone who i could probably murder with my bare hands
ok *maybe* but film is not reality. What even is this shit?
All of you going on about why Paul Atreides can't kick ass because of his build/look need to STFU. I have rolled with 16yr old kids that would snap, tap, or nap all of you. It's the most ignorant shit I've read here in good while. Just stop. I'm 6'5" and was 245-250LBS when I was rolling with purple belts and up at 145-165lbs and they'd merk all of you. Even the 16yr old high school wrestlers that were blue belts would beat you like a rented mule. You have no idea what you are talking about. Trust me on this one.
You try to come across as this thoughtful art analyst but really you are just a machismo trope.ok *maybe* but film is not reality.
when i see the guy's sunken chest i cant help but think malnutrition.
this is why we cast moustache-twirling villains as bad guys and not just some random dude.
dude, everyone called him a Emo. thats what Emo means. you wouldnt call Sepultura "Emo" right? why not? what are the differences?
idk, i'm not one who sees Starship Troopers as pro-fascism. Thoughts? You try to come across as this thoughtful art analyst but really you are just a machismo trope.
Fascinating.
In the book, Paul was totally emo. He was a teenage boy; he was supposed to be emo.

A quote from the Dune 2000 mini-series:
Paul: You don't know what you're talking about.
Irulan: Oh, I've heard all about the moody Paul, the grim Paul, the angry and unhappy Paul who has been exiled to Arrakis where - poor boy - one day, he will inherit responsibility for the greatest treasure in the universe.
Paul <petulantly>: ... and the never-ending struggle to defend it!
1984 NO CONTEST david lynch is a geniusYup, check the comments
i'm sorry, when does this get good? I've watched 2 episodes and all i could think is "you can't just cast Brendan Gleeson and magically expect the good to happen".Mr. Mercedes - 7.5/10 (Now streaming on Peacock)
Originally aired in 2017 with 3 seasons tied to the 3 Stephen King books -
We're through Season 1 EP 5 and really enjoying this cat & mouse game from the retired detective played superbly by Brendan Gleeson and the deranged psychopath played by Harry Treadway.
They really pushed the limits of incest/sexual abuse with this one to give it the ultimate ick factor.
Mr and Mrs Smith (2024) on amazon
Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as title characters in a reboot/sideboot version of the Pitt Jolie movie.
8/10
this is a very subtle and non-spoonfed narrative style, closer to an Andor approach. it is primarily about the relationship and less about the action or plot. tons of cameos and guest stars delivering great performances. the cinematography is naturalistic but doesnt splurge often enough with crane(drone) shots to make it feel like a big movie. it is passably worth watching but doesnt have any scenes with either enough comedy or excitement to make it something you would ever rewatch.
the spycraft is a bit cringe, it feels like they wanted to have dialogue of spies treating their job like regular people with their 9to5 routine and emotional foibles vs the seriousness of actual operatives. the discipline and rigor of actual opsec and no evidence deniability is not present, though the same could be said about the movie.
i'm sorry, when does this get good? I've watched 2 episodes and all i could think is "you can't just cast Brendan Gleeson and magically expect the good to happen".
