Fallout - 8/10 Found the show entertaining for the most part. I've played a few of the FO games but I never completed them, or even remotely came close to completing them so I'm not sure how true the show kept to the games. But I thought the production was well done. Kind of gave me the feel like I was in the game world I think the only thing I didn't really care for was Maximus' story arc. I think they could've fleshed out him growing up in the brotherhood a bit more. Overall though, it was a good show that I could watch again in it's entirety prior to watching a S2 if it were to be greenlit.

Dark Matter. Just finished watching episode 5. I do really like the story, it's good sci fi.

But as I think was mentioned before, the lead actor, well, he doesn't cut it playing both versions of himself. It's not good enough. But the story is good enough to make me want to watch the show.

I can imagine that show being really good though with a better lead actor. Colin Farrell could have nailed it, but apparently he was too busy doing Sugar, which was a good show itself.

If you want a show with an actor doing a great job playing two different versions of himself, check out JK Simmons in Counterpart.
Good call. Yes I saw that, on Amazon Prime last year! He knocked it out of the park. It was a brilliant performance, it was almost like two different actors. Perfect contrast to this guy in Dark Matter just not cutting it.

Such a good show and I love the premise. I think it could have done with some flash bang eye candy, which is suspiciously missing, but I don't really have a problem with that.

.. do you guys think the song Careless Whispers is about the singer cheating?
I always thought he was hitting on his friend's girl. Like, you know she's your friend's girlfriend, but you try to do teh secs with her. And that you are careless in your whispers to her, trying to seduce her.

I watched the South Park special, The End Of Obesity - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32375562/reference/

and it was so not fucking funny at all. I think the last good season was S17, back in 2013, with maybe the occasional good joke here and there, the Panderverse special was decent, but pretty much all stuff since has been disappointing.
I think i nearly died laughing when i watched the Awesom-0 episode, so this is a really massive slide in quality.

Cartman finds out there's a drug that could make him not-fat. He imagines this would be great because now he can be horrible to everyone and they won't be able to say anything back because he's not fat anymore.
He can't afford the drug, so he needs to use INSURANCE. And the whole episode then makes fun of how bad the US health insurance world is.

Yeah ok so, maybe i can see why some people would find this funny. But i live in a country that has not-shit healthcare so i don't get the joke.

Is it better than Tom Hardy beating the shit out of himself as his twin in Legend ?

Just wrapped up the season 3 of Hacks on HBO Max. Just a great show. Great cast and the chemistry between Deborah and Ava is on fire. This show has a little bit of everything from drama to humor to tackling all sorts of personal and sexual and sociopolitical topics, all within a natural flow. Looking forward to season 4.

i watched Amsterdam (2022) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10304142/reference/

Oh god this was so boring. Imagine having Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Robert DeNiro, even Mike Mayers and Taylor Swift!! and still producing this pile of shit. You also get Rami Malek, Colleen Camp, John (the son of Denzel) Washington.

Set in 1933 Amsterdam, it's a sort-of spy thriller who does not understand what makes a good thriller. Or even just a thriller.
The dialogue is near-nonsensical, constantly veering into irrelevant conversation that covers what little plot-necessary content is there. I need to stress how frustrating is trying to follow this film, it's tons of characters constantly talking about the mundane, leaving YOU the job of trying to distill what part of the vomit of words you have just heard is actually important for the story. The dialogue is almost violently self-indulgent, lots and lots and lots of redolent, flowerful phrases that contribute *nothing* to the progress of the film. It's two full hours long and barely anything happens.

It's .. allegedly, vaguely inspired by the Business Plot, but there is no mysterious discovery or evil villain to serve as a anything resembling a proper film antagonist - until nearly 1:50, the film "heroes" don't even know who they are fighting against.
The 3 (!) protagonists are friends who know one another from WW1. With Bale being a doctor, he is asked to perform an autopsy, which leads them to discover a rich man was poisoned. Shadowy forces attempt to silence the protagonist, and you'd say "aha DigDog, there's the plot!" but the shadowy forces are hardly in the film; like good IRL spies, they don't constantly stick around to see what's happening. The protagonists pretty much stumble around aimlessly, until they finally .. and i mean FINALLY, near the closing act of the film, meet a General, and they guy says oh yeah, yes i did get asked to read this speech against Roosevelt, but now that you've brought to my attention that fact that the guys you do not see in this film may have killed the rich guy, then i won't. And that's .. the film. The shadowy plot *exists*, but IS NOT IN THE FILM. The heroes are like, we've discovered this plot, that is taking place somewhere else !!

This was awful. I was yelling at the screen "what is this" and "what am i watching" most of the time. There is so much bad in this film i could probably build a youtube career out of ripping it apart.

My vote: 4/10 - it's shit.

i watched Dawn of The Dead [Extended Mall Hours Edit] - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077402/reference/

available in full on YouTube

Classic film that was awesome in the 80s, and it's maybe still good but requires a lot of attention to small details which we may have lost in this age of chaos we live in.
Still worth it though.

7/10 for the film, 8/10 for historical significance. I think THIS is the best zombie film ever made.

i watched the first episode - 1 hour - of Masters Of The Air - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2640044/reference/

a 9h slog of WW2 bomber action. The wikipedia plot summary says it all:
"Masters of the Air recounts the story of the 100th Bomb Group during World War II and follows bomber crews on dangerous missions to destroy targets inside German-occupied Europe.
The show portrays the intensity of war, the dangers that the airmen face, and the friendships and relationships that develop."

That's it. There's no heroes, no secret mission, no special plot to keep you interested, but rather it's another of those demi-documentaries with vaguely decent acting and scenes, but without a solid plot core.
If you thought that Dunkirk was a masterpiece, you will probably like this as well, although i have to warn you that there's some very blatant and not at all good CGI in the aerial combat scenes .. which are the majority of the show's content, so ...

5/10

Primal Fear - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117381/reference/

"the film that put Edward Norton on the map". By the way, what's happened to him? He's basically disappeared.

Anyway, got persuaded by a YouTube review to watch this, but the problem is, i could tell the plot from a literally 1-second scene in the review. Because, while Primal Fear may have been first, this plot has been replicated many, many time.

Norton plays a suspect in a grisly homicide. Richard Gere plays his attorney. Poor Norton is a feeble minded boy, and Gere is the seasoned, skillful attorney that uses every trick in the book to spare this boy the evils of the 'murican legal system. Except for the issue that Norton actually is a criminal and he's been fooling everyone.
"The Lincoln Lawyer" is the exact same plot.

Also, this film really feels like it's in that point in time where 1980s filmmaking was merging into 1990s filmmaking, regardless of the 1996 release date. It's slow, methodical, and leaves no stone unturned into setting up a big reveal at the end. So if you've already figured out the reveal a hour earlier, there's not much else for you to watch.

May have been great once, but it's not really that good anymore.

My vote: 7/10 on release, 6/10 now.

Yeah Ed Norton has definitely taken a lower profile probably enjoying life outside of acting but didn't he just do that big knives out the other year?

He's done a lot of stuff, but all low-key. This man is the guy who did the earth-shattering role in Fight Club, and then .. idk just said thank you and left.

He did Birdman, a Bourne, Rounders, Death to Smoochy, American History X, The Italian Job, the inferior The Prestige movie lol

but yes, one would think he would have been in more bangers.

i disagree. He only did American History X - which is awesome. The Prestige was bad, and i haven't seen The Remake Of The Italian Job, but he's got a minor part in whichever Bourne film he was in, Death To Smoochy is such a minor film i have never heard about it until you mentioned it, and Rounders is a Matt Damon film which totally eclipses him. Was he even in Birdman ?

By the way, his film The Score is one of the very few films i have ever walked out of. The 25Th Hour had raving reviews, but since then he hasn't had a single lead. I mean, he was even in The Budapest Hotel, but nothing that spotlights his ability as an actor.

A little late in the notice but at 9 this morning Pacific Time Sundance started a Lethal Weapon marathon. But they are showing them in reverse order. 4, 3, 2, 1. No idea why. Recording all. I see a personal LW marathon tomorrow. Just noticed they are showing all again today starting at 19:30 but in a weird order. 2, 1, 3, 4. Not sure what idiot is in charge of programming at Sundance.
