6.5/10

Great cinematography but the story is grim. This is what America is heading towards thanks to Trump and Putin. It also has dark comedic elements. I wouldn't say it is enjoyable but worth a watch.

The girl with the gorgeous eyes which also make her look a bit crazy. And she seems to have no issue taking her clothes off.

Cinematography is better than average and the sights are great (it's Japan!) but the story is a bit confusing.

Someone needs to explain the ending to me.

6/10 I guess. It has similarities to ScarJo's Lost in Translation except inferior and the protagonist is kind of a skank addicted to getting it on with strangers.

I heard about this, was meaning to watch it. I saw a similar disturbing movie last year called Leave the World Behind.

I thought the episode was off to an amazing start when I saw Carrie-Ann Moss as a Jedi Master but it went downhill from there. I don't know why Disney is obsessed with stories of only young Jedi's with incomplete training or "issues". Like there are no other problems in the vast, vast Star Wars Universe.

Someone needs to fire Kathleen Kennedy. She doesn't understand Star Wars.

So Showtime is working on another Dexter series -Dexter:Original Sin. It's about the younger Dexter evolving into a serial killer. I will definitely check it out. The last spin-off New Blood was...ok for a fan of the series but kind of disappointing.

Stranger Than Fiction - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420223/reference/

Good film starring Will Ferrell in a .. serious role?
This film's a bit weird. There's a portion which is a romantic comedy, where near-autistic IRS auditor Will Ferrell falls in love with quirky anarcho-capitalist Maggie Gyllenhaal,
and there's a mystery portion where Ferrell is being guided in life by a voice of a unseen narrator, who can apparently shape his life. There's fairly dramatic overlay of the story of the narrator, who is a talented writer currently writing the story where Ferrell is the protagonist, but also this will likely cause him to be killed as per the book. The two are linked by a excellent Dustin Hoffman, a teacher of literature that bridges the gap between the, well, real but also fantasy story of Ferrell, and then the real .. but maybe also fantasy story of the narrator (Emma Thompson).

It's .. good. The script is actually interesting, for once. The acting's good and Ferrell & Gyllenhaal have great chemistry, in fact i wouldn't be upset if there was more romcom.

Would recommend. 7/10

Because well-adjusted Jedi would be as boring as fuck. Side characters at best.

I kinda like that they are going out of their Skywalker comfort zone.

Watched the first two episodes, not bad, has some potential so I will watch the next couple episodes.

Apparently this show has been review bombed by angry snow flake white people because, well, there really aren't many white guys in the show, and definitely not in any major role so far. It's only the entire universe as a setting, god forbid diversity. Just for their review bombing, I have to believe this series has potential.

i watched the hilarious Santa Claus Conquers The Martians - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058548/reference/

Available in full here:

Currently 2.7/10 on IMDb, and widely considered to be one of the worst films ever. Much of the dialogue was later reused for the musical project The Laziest Men On Mars, available to download freely here.
Something is wrong with the children of Mars. They eat not, they sleep not. This is the epic opening that leads the boss of all Mars to fly to earth and abduct Sant Claus, to save the martian children from apathy. With incompetent sidekick Dropo and dastardly villain Voldar (complete with evil fake moustache), it's even more camp than Flash Gordon. At one point they bring out Torg, a destroyer robot, a robot so unstoppable in its trail of death that Voldar considers it inappropriate to be used merely to capture Santa Claus.

This is the robot ..

If you love seeing actors being really serious while wearing absolutely horrid costumes, then you will love this film.

my vote: 11/10 - unmissable

Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War - 10/10

Excellent historical documentary on Netflix. Given the span of time this covers, I thought they did a great job in showing what lead up to the cold war and beyond. A lot of history here.

Die Hard: With A Vengeance - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112864/reference/

This is the one that has *that* famous scene with the billboard and Samuel L Jackson. SLJ really elevates the film, and while it's not a perfect story like DH1 was, it's a very fun (if somewhat long) shooty kaboom film. I think it was better than DH2 as well.

Random tangent, the biggest 2 year old I've ever seen was the kid of one of the guys who played a bodyguard in this film. I guess that's not surprising when the dad is 6'10.

i watched With Honors - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111732/reference/

1994 film starring Brendan Frasier and Joe Pesci, that has pretty much only one good scene, this one:
What's good in this scene and what's missing from the rest of the film, is that in this scene there's an ANTAGONIST. Which is otherwise not present at all in the rest of the film, but actually, Pesci's character plays the role of the antagonist.

Brendan Frasier - whose The Whale i have not seen, but certainly was no talented actor in The Mummy - is a near-graduation Harvard student. He is working on his Thesis where he discusses how poor people suck, and by fate gets his life entwined with rebellius bum Pesci. Pesci's character is that of the old sage, but he also comes into conflict with Frasier both because he dislikes Frasier regurgitating of what garbage he learned at Harvard, and also because he is, at least superficially, an embittered old bum.
Where in the film there is a clear villain, the film is good, but otherwise the story is absolutely phoned in, doesn't take any risks, doesnt even try to break new ground.
The (1998) Robin Williams film Patch Adams has a similar setup, a character disdained by his social superiors who is revealed to hold a much greater truth than any of them, but because Patch Adams has a villain, the film manages to keep you interested, instead With Honors seems to just be a platform for this old philosopher to school you on some profund thoughts, but which have no effect on the plot.

5.5/10 at best, even with a great Joe Pesci.

The Pod Generation - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15768848/reference/

incredibly boring, bland, flat, uninspired "woha, technology is scary" film about .. motherhood.
Emilia Clarke is a successful corporate person who lives in the same identical zero-conflict early-scify world you have seen in another dozen shit movies, where everything is tones of black / white / gray / brown / mauve, and she is pushed to have a child by AI and society as a whole because "AI bad". The child is to be born is a plastic pod-shaped artificial womb, and, that's the film. I think Chiwetel Ejiofor was also in the film, which makes it in no way better.

4.5/10 - has absolutely nothing new to say and what little there is to say, it says it badly.
