So Angelina broke up Brad's marriage. Do you think Brad may have broken up his marriage at all or it's just the woman's fault?
OMG! Do you just wander around the forum picking fights with people over stupid stuff like this. Who cares what he said in an OT thread. Really. Go away please.

Awww are you butthurt over nothing? I simply asked a question. Yes it's time to question the standard narratives we have been fed for so long, the narratives we repeat in casual conversation. This is normal. To be so offended by it is what's weird.

Sorry that bothers you so much. Go cry moar.

He wouldn't have if he hadn't met Angie. She's a temptress. It's just her personality. If she were a man, she would have still caused trouble. That's why I don't like her. Plus, she's a number 4 like Amber Heard. Enough said.

So Brad Pitt is not responsible for his infidelities. He is just a victim. The man is just a victim, the woman is the temptress and men aren't responsible for their actions, it's all the woman's fault. This is fascinating. And not in a good way.

What's a number 4, and you know angelina well enough that she is just like Amber Heard? This is amazing, how do you get such access?

Angie born on 4th. Amber on 22nd=2+2=4.

Both male actors are 9s.

9 and 4 is a fatal attraction. Been through it myself coz I'm 9. The number 4 girl exhibited completely irrational behavior. Has happened to me with a no.4 guy too. So it's not about man and woman. It's more about the numbers.

... OMFG yeah, it's the numbers...

Ha. But this is why I love this place. I mean for this type of material. Forget that men aren't really responsible for where they stick their genitals, but there is this whole numerology stuff too, and @Ajay had a temper tantrum about my reasonable post. And this all happened afterwards, quite reasonably too, no kerfuffle.

We'd have missed all this! What a jerk.

I guess by that logic, I'm also a 4. And since I'm an asshole, theory confirmed. Checkmate, atheists.

Equalizer 3

Denzel is officially "old".

There was plenty of stuff wrong. Some very obvious holes that they didn't care about covering up coz they are so sure that it will still make good money. The worst moment was seeing a badly photoshopped photograph. I mean, what the hell?

6.5/10 - I'm being a bit generous.

Asteroid City, a second time via streaming. Very strange, originally in the theater I enjoyed. The second time it wasn't funny at all. Maybe it wasn't funny the first time either???

Same goes for watching Renfield with Nic Cage. The second time around I couldn't even finish it. Terrible.

I think it's the directors. Too new, too young, no experience, no imagination, too much by the book. These new movies come and go over night. In the theater one day and available on DVD the next. Just author example of the education system failing society, maybe.

??That's out ?? I'm gonna watch it now.

I watched The Legend of 1900 AKA The Legend Of The Pianist On The Ocean or whatever translation of the title you saw it with. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120731/reference/

This film falls in the same group as The Usual Suspects; it's brilliant the first time you watch it, and then not that good when you watch it again. But, if you have never seen it, you owe it to yourself.

Esthetics are close to The Godfather; wonderful sets, costumes, a very interesting and varied cast. Good photography, and obviously excellent sound, as this film is primarily about music.

In the year 1900, a baby boy is abandoned on the luxurious transcontinental liner "Virginian", found by the crew, he grows up to be the piano player in the orchestra. But, he never leaves the ship. His quirky personality and awesome skill on the piano are the focus of the story, where "1900" (named for the year he was found) observes the lives of the characters around him as an alien who cannot understand them.
Next to him is straight-man and narrator Max, who holds together the rest of the story, told in flashbacks, on how 1900 disappeared when the Virginian was scrapped.

The good is, that the film is just good. Everything is well done and the story is enjoyable.

The bad is, the film is poorly structured, too long, and a lot of things are there just for spectacle. The story of Max isn't nearly as interesting as the story of 1900, the story of 1900 is just a section of film that starts nowhere and ends nowhere. You can only watch the piano duel so many times before you notice that the film lacks cohesion.

.. it's a nice film experience the first time around. But it won't change your life.

7.9/10

why THE FUCK do they cast an actor that has a eyesight problem, and then FOCUS THE CAMERA RIGHT ON HIS EYES. You understand that, that means you are *trying* to say something?? But instead no, it's just an eye tic.

The Intern (2015)

This was my wife's choice to watch, she enjoyed it. It's referred to as a "feel good" movie (which illicits a "RUN BITCH, RUUUUUN!" flight response from me every time, but for the sake of marital somethingorrather, I watched it).

The film is almost as safe/compatible in terms of content as can be, like a Disney movie but for adults. I say 'almost' because Anne Hathaway's character is the boss of a dotcom startup and her husband is a stay-at-home dad, which is probably going to offend someone out there.

IMO it was pretty dull. Sufficiently engaging that I didn't fall asleep or yawned my way through the entire movie (genuinely, not some passive-aggressive BS), just not very interesting. It happily glosses over the stress of working at most workplaces, main character gets the first job he applied for (admittedly later in the film it demonstrates that he likely has a lot of experience to know how to present himself well), the kind of American movie that gets my goat because it presents this forced grin of "EVERYTHING IS FINE!" when it really isn't, mostly about people who can afford to do whatever they want and paying minimal attention to the characters who can't do that.

At least it doesn't make the mistake that a lot of feel-good movies make in that their idea of success is like, "and through hard work and grinding my life up till it broke a few times, I'm happy to say I'm now a wall street trader!" or "these experiences are how I knew the answers to the game show questions", causing me to react like, "fuuuck, really?".

One thing that pissed me off about it though was the entirely unnecessary chapter about unsending an e-mail that the boss sent to the wrong person. It was completely fucking absurd, that the interns would be like, "yay, let's go break into someone's house!" and "yay, everything turned out fine!" without any kind of reality check with the usual factors of 'any boss with half a brain and some kind of functioning moral compass would have hard-noped this', or the flipside of interns feeling like they ought to do this because they need this job.

The Red Violin - 8/10 (1998)
(lots of subtitles)

1998 Oscar Award winning movie that tells the story of a violin and its travels from its creation to its discovery/sale in modern times.

Each vignette is compelling and contribute to the violins travels.

Took my niece and nephew to see the new Ninja Turtles movie and it was like a 3/10. Art style was kind of ugly and the story didn't do much for me.
This seems to be a re-imagining. The art style looks stunning when the camera pans out but looks like stop motion animation in some scenes when the characters are shown up close. The biggest problem for me was the voice overs. It kinda seemed like a parody or mockery of TMNT. The music is gritty but the mood of the movie is comedic (They will milk your blood. What???? We don't have nipples!). The final bossfight was pretty badass. Overall, it's a 6/10 from me. Won't mind seeing a sequel. But yes, the newer turtles are inferior in personality to the TMNT we grew up with.

I watched Waterworld Ulysses Cut Revised Edition - https://ifdb.fanedit.org/waterworld-the-ulysses-cut-revised-edition/

still shit.
1 more shot of boobies, that's it. Absolutely not worth it.

if anything, for the unescapable feeling that "uuh ... Mad Max on the water is not a bad idea .. this film could have been good, WHY IS IT NOT GOOD" that you will have throughout the 2hours and 50minutes of subjecting yourself to the stupid idea that Waterworld could be saved in the edit.

5.5/10

Predator 2 (1990)

Not a patch on the original, kind of like Alien3 or Godfather 3 to their predecessors. I don't regard 'Predator' to be on the same level critically speaking as Alien/Aliens/GF1/GF2 , but it (Predator) did what it set out to do and did it well, whereas P2 is a <shrug> sequel IMO.
