I agree, I'd like one of those neato mice. But we need a HOT deal. At $49.99 that's pretty cold

hey, this is the board where YOU give the hotdeals, NOT ask for them!! Now go away and comeback with something that causes us to spend money!

Welcome to the forums here. Guess you just met the wonderful people that help so much. If one person says Wrong forum, why do others have to say it??

Simple. To get their post count up.

Go to the IWANNA forums like they have said here and wait for replies, but dont hold your breath.

...or do what I do. Simply find the mouse somewhere selling at regular price, then post it as a hot deal (IE- Hot!!! MX500 at Best Buy for $49). Then all the know-it-alls come out of the woodwork wanting to show you up with cheaper prices

Welcome!!!

If you post a cold deal, you still get flamed for it though.
Better yet, just wait for someone to come up with a good one, it wo'nt take time!

They are $45 at amazon with free shipping. I ordered one, then stopped by CompUSA on the way home from work to see if they had them. They did for $50, so I just bought one there and was going to cancel my order once I got home. Of course, in the 2 hours I was gone it already went to 'preparing to ship' status so I couldn't cancel it. The free shipping said it wouldn't ship for 5 days. So hopefully once the amazon one comes I can return it at Compusa for a refund, otherwise I'm stuck with 2 of these.

The thing works pretty nice though, but I do have a couple complaints. I installed the software that came with it to give it advanced functionality. But that made it so none of the extra buttons worked in Battlefield 1942. I had to uninstall the software to get them working again. Also, with the software installed, scrolling with the wheel was extremely choppy. I think it was the option to let you scroll in non-active windows (though it makes it choppy even in active windows). I didn't reinstall to see if that was the cause - just thought of that afterwards.

Overall I like it though, even though I'm not using the software. All that really did was enable one extra button to work like alt-tab and let you set mouse acceleration. You could also remap the buttons through windows, but only to pre-defined values. I might try reinstalling it at some point and mapping them to stuff like page-up/page-down and see if I can configure games to bind pgup/pgdn to action so I can use those extra buttons. It tracks extremely smoothly and accurately. I don't think it really makes a whole lot of difference in windows/normal games. But if you are playing a faced paced action game it seems to help - and doesn't skip around at all. I wouldn't have minded the mouse being a little bigger either (I have big hands and liked the size of the MS explorer better).

Thanks for the info Jeraden. Anyone else have additional comments on this mouse?

I used my replacement plan on my ms explorer mouse to get one today, overall its a good mouse, but the right and left buttons are alittle stiff...almost not easy enough to click. Seems to be loosening up now, maybe just need to be used some, easier to click if you put your fingers further down the mouse, i cant get a good enough grip on it that way. But my major complaint is the scroll wheel... I scroll 2 times, 3rd scroll it doesnt move, 4th it moves twice! VERY annoying since I use the wheel in games. I had a logitech about 2 years ago that did the exact same thing too. I like the overall feel of the dual eye kind better, its alittle bigger than this one, but it only has the 1 side button, where this is better for gaming. Anyone know if the MX 700 shuts off if you dont move it for 10 seconds, like the ms wireless explorer?

I just uninstalled the software, as Jeraden said, and the scroll wheel works fine. Only thing that doesnt is the quick alt-tab button. Button is sorta hard to get to anyway, alt-tab is easier anyway.

I bought the MX 700 about a week ago, and here are my comments:

Nice feel, and size though a bit heavy compared to regular corded mice. I'm moving from an Intellemouse Explorer Version 1.0, so I was used to a huge mofo of a mouse.

The buttons near the scroll wheel seem really useless to me, I don't see why I woulud use the button to scroll instead of the mousewheel. The alt-tab button seems kinda useless too, but maybe because I use 'focus follows mouse' anyway.

Because I didn't need the features of the alt-tab button, I just use the default windows software for the mouse and not the logitech ones. With the logitech one, you have to enable MS compatible scroll and scroll in active window for it to work in games. However, even with the default microsoft drivers, the scroll wheel still won't scroll in all windows.

The left and right buttons are sufficent and give good feedback. The back and foward buttons could have been a bit bigger like the Intellemouse, but maybe I'm just used to the size of that mouse's buttons.

As for the wireless part...

The claim that it is as good as a corded mouse is mostly true. It feels no different than the old intellemouse 1.0 that I had. The response feels the same in games, and I don't notice any delays or wierd tracking. The mouse does not go to sleep after leaving it alone for a short time. However, I think it does shut down after about 5 or 10 minutes of leaving it alone. I'm not quite sure how long, but I know it's a really long time. The charging base is a VERY nice touch. The charging base and fast wireless transmission were the main reasons why I bought this over the MX 500.

The mouse can be moved very very fast compared to my 1.0 intellemouse before it skips. In fact, I really haven't gotten it to skip when using it unless I was purposly trying to throw it across the table. The intellemouse would skip when you even went semifast (remember, it was v1.0).

Goods:
Wireless that is very responsive
Charging base
Back and foward buttons
Nice feel/shape
Doesn't go to sleep anytime soon

Bads:
Alittle heavy
semi-useless scroll butons/alt-tab button
bad software (compatability with scrolling)

PM me if you have questions.

Anyone else with one of these having problems with clicking? I can't click the right or left mouse buttons unless I slam them down...

Why don't y'all just PM amazon to staples at 110%, use the 10 off 40 to get it cheaper?

From what I've read, if you do not take the buggy as hell scrollwheel software into account, the mx700 is looking to be the first cordless that is appropriate for FPS gaming.

It's actually not as great for gaming as I thought it would be..the up and down arrows by the scroll wheel are just page up/down, which are right by the arrow keys..so that kinda defeats the purpose..for me atleast. The 2 buttons by my thumb are nice, but with how the left and right buttons are, I'd suggest the dual eye mouse thing instead. I'm going back to get that one tomorrow. It has just the 1 side thumb button, but it has actual buttons for the right and left click

I've had the MX700 and the MX500. They are both great mice. I replaced my dual optical with them. I keep the MX500 just because of the battries in the MX700. You have to charge the MX700 every night or you risk it going dead the next day.

You can fix allot of problems with the scroll wheel by doing this:

1. Remove the scroll in the MouseWare properties (set scroll lines to None or Zero it's at the bottom of the list.)
2. Download TweakUI from PowerToys from Microsoft
3. Enable mousewheel from TweakUI
