"Two drive bays"

"Two drive bays open"

Pure genius.

Think Apple will void their warranty after seeing all this?

I have a history of hating apple products since the beginning of time, but I have to say this is nice. I still wouldn't get one that. I'd prefer a car -_-'

The heatsinks are for the FB dimms, I heard they generate alot of heat.

What, btw, is the last connector on the front panel? It doesn't look familiar to me.

What a screwy way to build a computer. It looks more like a cave than a computer case. Wouldn't you LOVE to change the video card in that thing? BTW, why would anyone wanting an Intel processor buy a new Apple?

FW800 port.

This coming from someone who's never owned or used a Mac. Mac desktops, especially the G5 and Mac Pro towers have a better designed interior layout and material quality than 99% of the PC cases on the market. Why would you wanna change the video in that thing? Most people don't buy Macs for gaming. Because the Xeon 3.0GHz C2D processor in the Mac Pro is faster and cheaper than the C2D X6800, and you can run both Windows and OSX on a Mac. Read up, chump.

By definition of cheaper, do you mean in the free market or from apple? =p

That's my main problem with apple, they seem to require charging insane amounts of money for their parts. And if I pay that much for a system, I want it to work. *cough* macbook pro *cough*.

Anyways, I disagree about Macs being better designed than PCs. The only reason a mac seems better designed is because they have custom parts and apparently don't need to follow any conventions whatsoever. But don't worry, dell, alienware, voodoo, and HP all do the same thing too.

The stock Mac Pro is actually reasonably priced. Upgrade prices suck though -- they still charge way too much for RAM.

From looking at that case it looks extremely tightly packed... there's alot of things in the way if you are trying to get your hands inside there. I prefer a case that is more open to the motherboard components personally.

I still like their old case with the flip down side and the motherboard resting on that side. You can access everything so simply.

Buy it in the store. You con't have to buy RAM from them. Much cheaper.

Are you trolling? Seriously.
Slide out RAM bays, slide out HD trays and it's a screwy way to build a computer? Do you see any wires anywhere? This computer build is top notch. Alienware builders are sure to be shaking thier heads in amazement. I sense some serious jealosy in your post.
What you call a cave means EXCELLENT airflow, something modern PC's severly lack, including my own.
Last I heard, that's what people aim for, as much airflow as possible.

At least we have a choice. Sorry, but I refuse to endorse a a product where the software maker dictates what hardware you are allowed to run it on, which is f--king absurd in today's world. I also use server class cases for my PC builds, which makes the G5 tower look like a Packard Bell.

I'm noting the massive amount of capacitors and coils on the motherboard inside that Mac, so I guess the hand wasn't talking to the foot when it came to power supply requirements.

Most people don't buy Macs for gaming

Given the wretched performance of the Mac Pro with OSX forced to run apps inside Rosetta, and the fact I've never, EVER seen a Mac inside a corporate server farm, I'd conclude Apple users don't use their machines for serious work either.

Big mac

Because HPC isn't serious work. And Final Cut Pro is some lame ass software right?

It's a matter of choosing the appropriate tool for the job. If you don't like macs, that's fine. There are plenty of reasons not to like them. But spouting trivial BS is weak.

Compare The Mac Pro with a similarly equipped Dell. Now... Have fun owning yourself...

Love the heatsinks on the RAM.
"Each RAM stick has a small processor which generates a considerable amount of heat."

Looks like they've got a hell of a nice setup for the power circuitry on the motherboard. MOSFET heatsinks and plenty of those nice coil things. I imagine that the more of them there are, the more thoroughly the power is filtered. So many capacitors too. Aluminum if I'm not mistaken.

Side note: I wish to smack-upside-the-head someone at Burger King. "Frypod."
Ugh.
I mean really, come on.

It should be "Fripod."

It doesnt really need them as long as the airflow is all managed properly, which it looks like... I actually think its kind of ugly on the inside and out.... but yes it does look better then a lot of HP/Dell plastic monstors but I actually perfer black... not painted gray/silver. I am liking my new P180b case... now what do about the vacuum cleaner like 1900XT...

Too many problems, not enough hardware options.

Apple fanboy? Anything but. I just give credit where credit is due, and that new build deserves credit on design. I have an open mind, obviously unlike some.
You see anywhere it says "apple" or "mac" in my sig?
Yeah, that's what I thought.
