I bought a Fatal1ty AA8XE, P4 3.8 Exterem CPU, BFG 6800 Ultra Water cooled (x2)PCIe. 1GB DDR2 stick of RAM (OCZ PC2-4300). XP Pro. My monitor is a 44' zenith LCD HDTV. What kind of Case, PSU, and HD should I use for my set up? Should i go with one or two HDs? Im very new to this and this is my first computer I'm building. Is this a good set up? I plan to overclock later once i learn the tricks. so in the mean time I'm trying to get it as fast as I can till I learn to OC it. Any help is appreciated.

I though the fastest P4 EE was the 3.46Ghz?

Regardless, you actually payed money for an Extreme Edition P4? Stay away from my home you mental case!

Use a case that lets the p4 pretend it?s a powerful A64. Then possibly your CPU will perform up to the standards of your ludicrously large display.

Well, the 3.73GHz P4EE was said to have been released "Real Soon"(tm) according to Intel Roadmaps -- http://www.anandtech.com/cpuch...howdoc.aspx?i=2329&p=2

But, there's no doubt that Noxide is living on the bleeding edge ... bleeding cash, that is (ship some my way, eh?)

Since you seem to have money to burn, why not look at multiple-Raptor (74GB) RAID-0 setups? Or spend the extra dough and get a dedicated SCSI controller and do some RAID-5 action? I guess I'm disappointed that the Fatal1ty doesn't support SATA-II (300MB/s), though you won't notice a difference now most likely. You're going to need a mammoth powersupply to provide for this beast, so pick out a heavy-hitter. Case is very much an arbitrary aesthetics decision, so go with what you like, though cooling would certainly be a priority, and I'd recommend a solid Lian-Li case like the 2000 series.

Good luck with that setup.

If you guys can read, Noxide is not asking if AMD is faster at gaming than his brand new setup. In fact, I couldn't find the word "AMD" in his post at all.

"What kind of Case, PSU, and HD should I use for my set up? "

I would recommend a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB HD and OCZ PowerStream 520W PSU.

You got a single 1GB stick of RAM? You don't need more than 1GB for gaming, but with a P4 you really want two memory sticks to run dual channel. If not, then reference AMD setups will be more than walking all over your P4. (I'm sure you get the hint by now--if you had consulted us beforehand, you might have gotten a better setup for your money or even saved money on a setup without such extraneous things as SLI... speaking of which, are there even SLI mobos for Socket 775 yet? Sorry if this is interpreted as a flame of any sort; if so, please change my avatar to a fire hydrant so that I may douse these more quickly.)

In any event, you'll want a beefy PSU for two 6800 Ultras; probably something along the lines of an OCZ 520.

ChineseDemocracyGNR, please don't shoot us for offering our input, especially since we are making recommendations on stuff he's asked about in addition to our side comments. It's the least we can do to let him know what he's getting into, especially since he says he's a newbie to this.

(Again, my apologies, OP, if you deem this offensive or otherwise out of place.)

Well to be fair, you were...I was just razzing the OP...so he can shoot me if he really wants to, but then it's on to Ro-Sham-Bo and I get first kick.

Noxide, welcome to AT!

It seems like a lot of the people here are just plain jealous. There's always that someone who ruins it for others. Don't pay much attention to people like that. If you have the money to buy the stuff, good for you! If I had the money, I would definitely treat myself to some goodies without investing a lot of time looking for good deals all the time.

Definitely Lian Li for the case, Antec or Thermaltake (or one of those reputable companies) power supply, and Raptors are the fastest out there right now for HD (I think). Definitely a few of those. Recently, I actually saw a review about some case that has silent cooling with all these heatpipes running inside the case. Also, I saw a Peltier case with a small condenser inside that doesn't make much noise. You might want something like that. It will be so cool to have a silent but lethal system. Try not to trade-off loud noise for extreme overclock for an everyday use computer. You don't want a vacuum cleaner. It will drive you up the wall.

Well I dont mind the noise. Everything is still in boxes so if anything i can take them back. X-cept the CPU.. My friends Father works for Intel and...dont ask me how but my friend and i have the first P4 3.8EE.
I think we'er the first? N*E*wayz Thanks for the pointers and if there are better set ups let me know. I just want to play games. Burn Movies and stuff but i want to have a monster computer. Right now i understand that AMD can be OC to the point were the CPU Burns to Hell! Well Im trying to desine a cooling system thet has to do with the freezing system of a frig. Im an automotive tech and even the a/c system works the same just that the engine is the motor like the electric motor in the frig. so i just want to make a min type but the only obstical is the condinsation. Very Bad thing for computers!..hey but thanks for the feedback!

Some of you guys are as worthless as the 'tards that troll the Video forum. If you don't have a pertinent on topic comment then buzz off.

Since money doesn't appear to be much of an object, you may as well get the best.

For a power supply I'd get a PC Power and Cooling or Zippy.
For a case I'd get either a Silverstone or Lian Li.
For a harddrive I'd get a Raptor and one of the new Seagate drives.

yeah w0w with that kinda of money i would say go for the vapo chill or permitia phase change coolers and might aswell get a water cooler for the gfx cards. and if you have a lot of sh*t you need to power go with the ocz powerstream 520 (33a 12v rail) for overclocking and if you just want pure power go with the 600 watt ocz powerstream, but it isnt as good for overclocking because of its dual 12v rail.

2 ultras for a single PCI-E x16 slot motherboard. You almost had a few of these people bullshitted. Your a goof. Saying you have somethign you don't own is pointless because you can't game with anything adn you are still stuck with that POS i'm guessing you have. BTW the next P4 EE is rated at 3.73 Ghz not 3.8.

Don't waste people's time.

I will ignore that fact that this may be BS...

As for those wasting their own time reading this BS and responding to it saying that it is BS...start a new BS thread, and I will post for you calling it BS.

anyways...

Assuming you didn't know that was a single pci-e mobo. I would get rid of the mobo and the processor and get an AMD 4000+ instead. Since you got the money to burn...go FX-55 if ya wanted. Get an Asus Mobo that supports your two vid cards (A8N Sli or something like that).
For the powersupply, get something with 450 Watts plus(OCZ or PS...something company).

He probably means the 2MB 600-series Prescotts. They are not considered true "EE" chips as they are not Xeons, but maybe Intel is just going to brand them as such.
