Interesting... I log into my account, look at "available features" and it lists the "messaging starter" which according to that page has 1000 messages for 4.99, but according to the page under my account it is

Messaging Starter
(Best for light users of Messaging)
Includes 200 Messages (10 cents/additional messages):

so either you MUST use that form on that page to get it, or call and make sure.

I think I will call them monday and switch if it is correct, currently i get 400 messages for $6, I dont need the 1000 messages, but its a dollar cheaper, so why not...

For Cingular customers this is very hot.

also ppl should realise its not just hot because its cheaper than the other text plans, but also because it now includes picture, video, and IM messages, all of which used to cost extra or require an additional package. PPU price for picture messages used to be .25 a piece, so one could essentially get $250 worth of picture (or $100 of text)messages for a fiver.

This is good for newbies; I'm so glad that I got in on the old MEdia Works package - $19.95/month for unlimited data transfer and (I think) 1000 SMS and 200 multimedia.

Consumer reports should not be considered a reliable source of information.

.......Why not?.....

maybe because they base their ratings on actual surveys of tens of thousands of people (consumer reports subscribers) who have a real interest to give accurate feedback because they rely on consumer reports for their buying decisions and therefore want the ratings to be meaningful. The score for wireless is composed of parts such as static on the line, fropped calls, circuits full, and coverage. Cingular is usually among the lowest rated, for example in LA they score 59/100 and verizon scores 74/100.

$14.99 MEdia Works Bundle
(Best Value! - *$75 value) 1000 Messages
$0.05/add'l 5 MB
$0.01/add'l KB

$9.99 MEdia Basic Bundle
(*$25 value) 400 Messages
$0.10/add'l 1 MB
$0.01/add'l KB

$19.99 Messaging Extreme
(*$150 value) 3000 Messages
$0.03/add'l NA

$4.99 Messaging Starter

I currently don't have a Cingular account, but was checking it out for my brother.

Yeah, I saw it at 1000 yesterday but today it only shows 200... Too bad, I was gonna switch.

Well I called and they said it was a mistake but they gave me a credit of 5 off the 9.99 plan for 3 months on both of my lines.

Damn, now I have to call and revert back to our original plans. *sigh*

edit: I've called Cingular three times (including just now) for various snafus in account setup and they've always been courteous and resolved my problems pretty quickly. So glad to be rid of Sprint!

No one gives a sh1t (source: Me)

yeah I reckon primitive consumers that don't care about what kind of service they are getting, probably don't care.
