Simpletech CF card is supposed to be $89 after rebate. Instead they have it for $89 straight and seem to have no rebate. Unless there is another rebate in the actual store or someone can find the links, this deal is different from described.

Mad Dog sound card seems to be missing the rebate as well, as is Mag Dog video card.

IOMagic CD-RW is $20 AR, not $30. Of course, IOMagic has bad rep for rebates, so it might be $50 either way.

External CD-RW is $50 AR, not $40 AR.

Looks good otherwise. Thanks for typing those.

Anyone know anything about the GigaFast EE400-R?

I figure a router for $8 is worth it -- but I had a similar product from D-Link which would drop packets...

Anyway, some good deals here, bump

Just got DSL installed here, looking for a decent router, preferably with a wired 4-port 10/100 switch built in.

Anyone have any comments on the Belkin or GigaFast routers listed, or the SMC one here?

Read some comments over on DSLReports about the SMC 7004VBR having latency issues and dropped UDP packets for games, but that was with 1.03 firmware from last year. I guess they're up to 1.23 now. Hopefully that issue was fixed.

The Belkin one with wireless sounds like a great deal, but I would have to spring for some additional wireless ethernet cards too.

I am in need of a new sound card, looks to be a good deal. Any one have any experience with this card. Can't find any reviews.

If you are looking for a sound card to play games and mp3s with, this card would probably suit you just fine. If you are looking for the best quality, or a "professional" type card, you might want to go with a better(more expensive) soundcard.

I've got the Mad Dog MM Prowler (4.1 channel) sound card, and it's great with my Logitech Z560s. It's not the best, or most feature-filled card out there, but it suits my music needs just fine.

The $40 rebate for the 512MB compact flash is posted over at Chubby wallet. I went down to Microcenter and picked up the CF for $89 out the door because I will bet they are going to change the price tomorrow.....

$49 for 512MB CF is a steal.....

I have 4 belkin refurb routers. Two were DOA, and are being replaced, the two that worked are working fine. I've used them both as switches to another router and with dhcp enabled, and they've been stable for days on end (longer than my windows ME machine is, anyway).

Since these are new ones, i'm assuming you're not worried about DOA, so i would recommend the Belkin as a decent router. I've heard good things about the Gigafast too, though tend to be uglier from what i've seen. No experience with the SMC.

Since they're cheap, i would be tempted to go with the wireless option, because you can always use it as a 4 port wired router for now, and play with the wireless later on, when finances pick up (if you can't afford the cards now)...

-D.

i have an SMC 8 port switch i picked up from MC a while back...

The ones they put on sale, the SMC ones that is, they have a WHOLE stock of...i wouldnt be surprised to never see the 16 port go out of stock. The product is in a red and white box that is quite different from the SMC normal box. THough this would imply OEM, its not. Its all wrapped, and its retail. Anyway, the product works great. It gets very hot though as there are no internal fans.

edit: on a side note, the thread over at chubby walet has people saying they walked out the door with the card for $89.99. The rebate for $40 can be found here. I see no reason why the rebate wouldnt come in. I think that SimpleTech (its an mfr rebate) would probably just see the $89.99 on the sales receipt as a pricematch or something.
also added a few more items that i saw only to the list in my first post...
once i get to MC and pick up the hard copy of the flyer ill add more...MC only posts like 4 of the 30 pages in the flyer.
