New monitor set up

I have been gaming on an old asus 1440x900 19'' monitor for some years now, and since I have upgraded my system a couple of months ago ( to an 3570k, and 7870 ), I decided i should get a new set up. I was considering either a 120hz 1080p monitor ( not larger then 24'', i do not like huge monitors ) which i would use along side my current monitor which would be in portrait mode, or 3 1600x900 monitors ( i could get a good price on these ). I was also considering saving a little more money and getting 3 1080p monitors but i am not sure my graphics card can handle it. I am planing crossfire in the future so perhaps that would be able to handle the monitors.

It would be nice if you could tell me which of these set ups are most realistic ( considering my hardware ). I play Skyrim, Starcraft 2, Blacklight Retribution, and many other indy and older games. I am also planing on getting back to MMOs if ES online or Wildstar are any good.

You don't like huge monitors but are talking about getting 3? Might need to elaborate on what your goals are.

What i wanted to say is that i do not like how 1080p looks on a 27'' monitor, since a I played on one for a while at at a friends place and did not like how it looked. I would like to try multi monitor but I am not sure will i get playable fps in the games that I play.

I recently bought 3 1080p monitors for Eyefinity. I also have a 7870. You'll get playable framerates, but you won't be able to get max settings on every game.

Although if I was to do this all over again, I don't think I would. Since I was using a 26" 1920*1200 LCD monitor before, I just feel like going down to 1080p was a bit of a downgrade, even if I was getting three monitors. A larger higher resolution display like a 27" 2560x1440/1600 monitor would probably be more useful outside of gaming. On the other hand, games do look awesome on three displays.

Do you have any good 1080p monitors to recommend for eyefinity? I would not like to spend more then 120-125 euros on each.
