Hello there,

My PS/2 Logitech is starting to get a bit jerky of late, it is nearly 3 years old.

I am looking for a new one, and I though this time I would get something a bit special.

Any ideas?

I am looking at the microsoft/logitech intelli-eye ones or possibly cordless or maybe even both.

I was just wondering if anyone had or has used any of these and what they though.

Thanks,

Corm

Here's my vote for the Logitech Mouseman+ Optical. If you like the original Mouseman series from Logitech, then you will love this mouse, because the shape and feel is identical.

While many people love and adore their MS Intellimouse Explorer, it felt too big and cumbersome for me. Be forewarned => The MS mouse is big. But of course I am biased, I am a Logitech man. . . .

thanks for the advice.

I have decided to go for a logitech i think, i prefer the shape as it is similar to my current one, which is comfortable.

The MS Intellimouse explorer looks like a good mouse too but it is more pricey.

I'm not sure if it is a mouseman or not, it is here:

Logitech Optical Mouse

What do you reckon?

I assume the mouse you are using now is the Logitech PS/2 Wheel mouse, and not the Mouseman series. The mouse you are considering above is the newer optical version of this mouse, and I have heard some good reviews of it.

However, the mouse I am referring to is the Mouseman Optical, and is around $20 more.

Here is a link to a review for the Mouseman.

Hope this helps. . . if you like Logitech mouse, you will be happy either way you go, IMPO.

It's been my experience over the years that Logitech consistently makes better mice than Microsoft. I currently have a Cordless Mouseman Wheel and it's great. As far as mice are concerned, cordless is the only way to go. As for the optical versions, I'm agnostic. I tried Microsoft's high end optical mouse for a couple of months and wasn't all that impressed. Many people rave about them though so there you go.

I have the "ifeel" optical mouse here. I just bought it for the novelty of the "ifeel" which is useless. Never the less, the logitech mice are great.

I bought the Cordless Desktop by Logitech over a year ago, and have never stopped loving it... Have never had a prob yet... except once when I forgot to change the batteries... I only do that once every 4 months or so for the mouse under always on usage, and have only changed the keyboard once to date... I AM IMPRESSED... definatley recommend this.... cant wait till it is avail in optical... but mine will have to die b4 I switch... so that will be a while.... go Logitech...

I have to vote for the logitech cordless freedom pro keyboard/mouse. I picked it up on an insane overstock.com sale and I couldn't part with either now!

I think I will go for either the mouseman optical or the wheel mouse optical, I will have a look at them in store to make the final choice.

cordless is good but I can't see any massive benefit for myself, that would be more of a nice toy extra.

Thanks for all the advice.

mouse going jerky? first make sure it's cleaned (no rings on the plastic roller bars) if they are clean then take a closer look at the rollers and see if where the contact is made is worn out or not. My old mouse used to work fine and every once in a while it needed cleaning but one day cleaning didnt work and i found out that middle of roller bars were much more thinner and uneven thus not making proper contact with the ball.

so i got a logitech optical mouse. it works fine (not too much better over traditional mouse (i also used ps2 refresh setter)) but needs no cleaning and i got it cheap so it was good. Beware tho, it does not like shiny surfaces. interestingly mine works best on cloth mouse pad.
