winxp does command completion also, just hit tab

Only took MS a few years and a few revisions of Windows to get that in there. While the *nix world has had it for over a decade. Not to mention, MS is slowing trying to get rid of the command prompt.
Win2k and Winnt4 and Winnt351 do this also, just have to edit one registry key to enable it

I see Linux as being rather clunky for some reason. I've never used it, but the whole concept seems sketchy to me. You have all these different people writing drivers for hardware and there is all this mixed and matched code flying around, i don't see how it can be compact and fast. Are there any standards for linux, or is it pretty much anything goes?

If linus likes it, he puts it in, if he doesnt like it, it doesnt go in. Think Billy boy Gates look at every line of code in his kernel?

pretty funny that you, of all people, use the word "clunky" in regards to an operating system. Oh, the irony of it all....

i'm sorry lucky, i don't get it?

I think Linux is cool to people just cuz many think their elite and can use something not too many people know how to use. However, my friends tell me that the "newness" factor wears off and that windows is a little bit easier to use and that Linux is not worth using fulltime as a replacement to windows. Security and stability is great and all, but for me, I've never been hacked, never got a virus, and Windows XP never blue screens on me. So i can't complain? I'm a brain-washed windows user i guess.

k notfred i read that link. So apparently there is still somebody checking the linux kernel and making sure its healthy. I always figured linux was like this one giant multi-user project that everyone worked on and that could be modded infinitely.

im going to try linux as my only os next upgrade in less than a year probably.
linux could always prevent ms and palladium integrators from making hardware for their os's.
