New MSI 8800GT + Zalman

I just got the MSI with the copper cooling. Right now straight out of the box it idles at 41 c. How is that?

For $200 I can't complain. Nice card.

Just installed the MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800GT. Impressed with it's cooling ability, 38 C idle and 54 C (nvidia monitor event log) after an hour of playing Bioshock at highest settings, and 56 C with Crysis at medium settings, 1680 x 1050 res. I can't play Crysis on my current system at highest settings. I see an upgrade in my future.

I didn't realize this card was so big, ~9 3/8" long. It covers the IDE1 connector on my Epox nforce4 MB. The card takes up 2 slots but does not exhaust air out the back. I only have 2 -120 mm fans, and a 120 mm fan Lian Li slot cooler that sits perpendicular to the MSI card in my Lian Li case.

The fan is also much quieter than the one on my 7600GT.

I just ordered mine this weekend, will post up details mid-week next week when I get it and install it in my new system. I can't wait I haven't had a new computer in a few years and I'm jumping from an AMD 3000+ to a Q6600 and also from a ATI 9800 pro 128mb to this new MSI card..

Would anyone who has this card please use nvflash v5.57, and post the output of this command in DOS:

nvflash --check

It will print out a couple lines describing the flash chip used on this card. Thanks.

It's the same card, there's just a plastic cover over the heatsink, which is kind of stupid because it would just act as an insulating layer by decreasing passive airflow among the fins.

Just remove it outta the box.

Does anyone with this card know if it cools better without the cover? I bought one this week and I'm concerned about the airflow in my case. I've got a 120mm intake fan that should supply the card with enough air, but I'd like to give it all the help I can.
