Full press release here.

My question:

Can someone please explain the difference between the N750 (aka WNDR4000 - wireless dual-band gigabit) and the N600 (aka WNDR3800 - Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router + ReadyShare hard drive / printer access from outside the network)?

The N600/WNDR3800 has more features but they're both $179.99.

Hi

This is typical Marketing BS and does not yield itself to technical comparison.

Knowing how this type of release are written the people who wrote it do not know the difference either.

P.S. I am not saying that there is No difference between the products and that they are Bad or good.

The above is Not the base to evaluate and judge them.

I'd rather just see 2010's dualband router technology drop 30% in price.

The WNDR3800 has more features, but the WNDR4000 is faster (450Mbps).

Was hoping to read of an updated "wired only" router, but none.

Is Dual Band technology really worth it? It seems like just an option to set up two separate wifi networks that operate on different frequencies. I don't need to access points

Well, in my case I have both 802.11g and 802.11n devices on the network, often running concurrently. I reserve 802.11b/g to 2.4 GHz and 802.11n at 5 GHz.

Same SSID and password.

clear channel selector is a new feature in wndr3800, and not available in other products.

Welocome to AT Forum.

This is a new name to a feature that it is available on other Wireless.
It not called clear channel selector but it is the same as the self scanning channel capacity to choose the lower SNR channel.

P.S. This is part of the "Beauty" of marketing", verbal manipulation of Technology to make appear different, while it is Not.

I'm in a apartment so I appreciate the 5GHz network, and my non-5GHz devices like the 2.4GHz network .

Extremely valuable, not worth buying an AP without it IMHO. To get the higher speeds of 802.11n you MUST have dual band as it uses both simultaneously.

The other, and probably more important, aspect is the 2.4 Ghz specturm is getting so crowded/noisy that it is quickly becoming a very real problem. 5 Ghz has 4 times the number of channels you can use and is wide open as far as noise is concerned.

Is this scanning capacity available with continuous monitoring (during bringup and after bringup) to use best channel.

How is WNDR4000 faster than WNDR3800? Or current WNDR3700 (aka WNDR37AV)?

I hope the wndr3700 drops by like $50 or something, I've been waiting for it to go on sale since my 3000 broke and I've had to downgrade to some pos a/b from years back.

New routers = rebranding a router and calling it new. Seriously, you can't get better than network speeds already offered on every other router in the world. You are basically saying in a press release "We added stuff that will not change the core feature set of the router, but you might like this extra fluff".
