wasn't the 1st gen N7 $250 for 16GB at launch?
so we have better specs all around for less money and people still aren't happy...

it's so bad on all tech sites/forums .. people act so inconvenienced by product they don't own or they are inconvenienced by the lack of features even though they KNEW about it when they bought it

* too much $$$$$
* it doesn't do ______ $$$$$
* what rip, how much more does nand cost
* wtf, i just bought the old on
* no SD slot, no want
* good luck, no tablet apps
* last year's hardware? pfft
* why do i need this again?
* camera sensor sucks
* wtf the placement of the front camera
* the nexus logo looks terrible
* that bezel ....

I think that its because its missing a few things. Forget the N7 pricing in 2011. The 32gb is $249 and has been for a while.

And the New 32GB N7 is only ~$20 more, with all the improvements they've made. Good luck finding any comparable tablet at that price range.

I think it's priced great. $229 is a pretty good deal for all the hardware you're getting in that thing. The S4 Pro is still a great processor.

Yeah, originally Google launched an 8GB Nexus 7 at $200 and the 16GB was $250. People were very unhappy about that. So about 3 months after launch the 8GB model was discontinued and a 32GB model was introduced at the $250 price.

Guys, you actually do need that bezel to hold the tablet comfortably in portrait.
I was actually thinking the bezel would be more useful for landscape mode. Every time I watch video on my Nexus 7 it's just awkward.

Does this mean Google did not implement palm/finger rejection on the new Nexus 7?

And lets be honest, I'm sure the #1 thing that everyone wants is NAND that doesn't suck. Lets hope Google brought Asus to task on that.
Agree. That and better speakers. I played with my friend's Note 8 the other day and performance difference of storage-related tasks was stark.

Didn't they say Amazon would be selling the Chromecast this afternoon? I still don't see it yet. I don't want to buy it from Google Play because the cheap shipping will take 2 weeks and they charge a fortune for 2 day air.

It's already sold out, I checked too late but added it to my cart so they'll email me when it's in.

Yea I had it in my cart and was getting ready to check out and it said ships in 3-4 days or so, of course the power goes out for an hour and when it comes back on it's showing sold out.

I ordered it anyway though, it's not something I have to have but for 35 (21 after cash back spending) it's worth messing around with.

I was able to snag one from Amazon earlier. So mine should arrive tomorrow. I was thinking about buying one of those stupid $30 Analogix Slimport adapters for my upcoming Nexus 7 (and current Nexus 4). But since all I really want to do is output YouTube and Netflix to my TV, this $35 Chromecast is infinitely better.

That bezel is awfully big. I'm interested, but I think I want to check it out in person first. A trip to the mall might be in order for next weekend.

Does Google not have a video of the Android 4.3, Nexus 7, and Chromecast announcement on YouTube?

A retailer in the UK has put up pre-orders for mid September. I hope this isn't accurate.

Oh and people complaining about the price are being ridiculous. What the hell are you comparing it to??

You mean the really thin bezels need to be made larger? The idea is that it's narrow enough you can just wrap your hand around the back.

No, I misspoke. I meant in landscape mode the larger bottom bezel is easier to hold in one hand, but said portrait. They could reduce the top bezel though.

I agree the narrow vertical bezels for portrait make it easier to hold in one hand than say a Kindle Fire HD.

My 16GB Nexus 7 came with $25 google play credit too last year.

So did my 8gb. I still have about $10 left.

As far as the price of the new one, its too high to make it as compelling as the original was last year. Maybe its a fair price for the specs but it isn't in the same league as say a $299 Nexus 4 as a market shaker.

i remember the reaction to the specs/price during launch being pretty positive.
the only thing close to the price point was the KF and the N7 specs trounced it in every category.

It's $20 more...

Is it really priced too high? Where is the other 7" 1080P tablet that's priced correctly?

Trust me, there are always unhappy people. There is always griping about storage space on Nexus devices. Flash storage is cheap, so just because it's a cheap tablet wasn't an excuse to only include 8 or 16GB of storage.

I'm still waiting to see a side-by-side photo with the current Nexus 7. Seems like everyone just wants to compare it to ipad or some other brand. I hear the new N7 is 2mm thinner, but it's got to be longer.
Frankly, I'm not seeing any reason to upgrade.

My 16GB Nexus 7 came with $25 google play credit too last year.
So did my 8gb Nexus 7 last September. But I never used the credit because it required a Play store account with credit card on file. D: There's no way I'm giving Google my credit card number so they can tie it in with all the other data they harvest from me.

I am using my Staples coupons, rewards and gift card for the old Nexus 7.

Sorry not impressed with the new one.
