That new control panel has doubled their size.

It'll be nice to finally try some new drivers though.

...and yet, PureVideo still isn't free.

I'm still interested in seeing what the new control panel looks like

They have the profile bug (only the global profile actually works) and on top of that they interfere with nHancers ability to run, so you can't even manually activate profiles.

They have the same SLI bug that the beta's have - Single GPU owners receive a message stating SLI has been detected but disabled on thier system. This happens every reboot.

error message

I'd stick with whatever you are currently using driverwise.

Thats no bug, its a marketing scheme. They are prompting you to insert another video card... hehe, folks at nvidia now what they are doing.

jokes aside, these fixed a lot of $hit for me, I was getting glitches in source engine games, and now they are gone. sweet.

Dear God, do NOT download these drivers if you want to use your socket AM2 motherboard and video card more than 7 minutes without a random, no-explanation restart... I just assembled a system based off ASUS's M2N-E motherboard and a 3500+ AM2 processor and these drivers have done nothing but wreak havoc with the new Mini Behemoth. For the love of all that's holy I implore you to steer clear and continue using 84.21 for now. I don't know who fubar'ed this up... whether it was Nvidia, ASUS, or XFX (using an XFX 7900GT card on this sytem) but the order of the day with 91.xx are random restarts, system hangs, etc. Its pretty frustrating.

Thats bad news.

The new control panel sucks chunks - the people who design these things at ATi and nVidia are obviously not gamers.

Fortunately the drivers seem to work well and they even fixed the pausing I had in Soldiier of Fortune when enabling 8xAA.

They have the profile bug (only the global profile actually works) and on top of that they interfere with nHancers ability to run, so you can't even manually activate profiles.
My nHancer profiles appear to be working just fine.

I don't have the drivers on my system anymore, reverted back to 84.43, however, nhancer (latest beta 2.0) would bring up an error dialog wanting to close with these drivers. you could click past it, however, none of the profiles displayed the executables or executable path and no settings could be changed in the profiles (including the checkbox necessary to manually activate a profile). This occured with 91.31's default profile set and my own custom profiles.

The profiles were present and correctly set in nvidia's control panel, however, it ignores them. Simplest way to test this is to set the global profile to aa/af off and aa/af on in a game profile. then run said game. The games ran without aa/af for me, clearly indicating the driver is reading the global profile only.

Would not be a problem if they driver worked properly with nhancer since I could then manually activate the profiles (you need the beta nhancer 2.0) to do this, not nHancer V1.2.2. I believe the problem here is caused by the SLI bug confusing nHancer.

how do you lock refresh with the new control panel? previously i used coolbits and all was ok but all i can see with the new control panel is "change resolution attributes", but the Prey demo is running at 60hz.

You will need to use refreshforce or similar the refresh overrides have been gone a long time now.

Acanthus My current windows install is fresh (only two weeks old). 84.43 is the only driver other than 91.31 official my main system has seen (tried the beta 91.31 on my 6600gt rig). System was reimaged to a point prior to any graphics driver being present before installing 91.31, so no way that 84.43 could have interfered in any way.

It will never be free, because of dvd/codec royalties.

Yep sure do!..funny how that was not fixed,I too hate the new control panel, switch to the classic normal mode,Coolbits is working fine in that mode for my refresh modes.

I tried a few games, no problems so far.

I hope they don't remove the classic display panel down the road since I prefer that to the new one ,even though it is not perfect.

why would they? most people purchasing a 3d gaming card have little interest in watching movies on it. Those who wish to watch movies pay for the ability, the rest don't.

because not everyone buys a 3d gaming card these drivers are used on all their cards aren't they? Plus it wouldn't add that much to the price of the card.

I can't comment on beta 2.0 but I can confirm 1.2.2 works perfectly with my profiles.

The drivers also work quite well from my testing so far and they've fixed several bugs I had with 84.21.

No, it's always been there but it's just hidden. You can download the registry entry from nVidia's website to re-activate it.

I hope they don't remove the classic display panel down the road since I prefer that to the new one ,even though it is not perfect.
If nVidia starts forcing that clunky new control panel they should split the driver download like ATi have done to give you the option of just using the base driver + 3rd party tweaker.

If you don't like the new control panel, don't use it!

In the view menu, choose "use classic nvidia control panel..." then click "OK" in the dialog box.

If you want to go to the new control panel from the old, choose "control panel user interface" from the side menu, choose "new nvidia control panel (reccomended)", apply, then "right now" in the dialog box.

yeah it turns out if i switch to classic control panel and apply coolbits the refresh fix is there.

Navigation is unintuative, there's less features, and somehow they doubled the download with it. what's the point of the new panel? Surely all we need is an easy interface to the required functionality?
