1920x1080, after I try and save my changes, the screen gets overscanned and I can't see the bottom half of my desktop, wtf. Had to restore.

Is there a way to disable the tray icon using the new control panel?
I know that I can do it if I switch to the old panel. But, I don't want to!

Okay, I gave these drivers another go after downloading them directly from nvidia. I also installed them in safe mode and now sli bug popup does not happen (even though the driver is still in SLI multi GPU mode according to the control panel). Also nHancer works correctly once again, although the profile bug is definitely present in this set. However, I can manually activate the profiles with nhancer so its okay (I wish nvidia would get around to fixing that bug it truly irritates me).

I swear, as soon as I hit apply the bottom inch of my screen disappears and digital vibrance gets cranked up. I didn't even change anything except to use the settings I want, but before I can even make changes it does this crap. It did it with the first 9X's that came out as well. Something in this series hates my Westy 37".

Fortunately the drivers seem to work well and they even fixed the pausing I had in Soldiier of Fortune when enabling 8xAA.

They have the profile bug (only the global profile actually works) and on top of that they interfere with nHancers ability to run, so you can't even manually activate profiles.
My nHancer profiles appear to be working just fine.

I agree that the new CP is...well....different. I wouldn't say it sucks, just that it might take some time to get use to it (alright, I hate it).

THE ONLY good thing about it is you can change some options in it (sharpness, noise reduction for purevideo) so the dvd's look 1000x better. Thats pretty much the only reason for using the new CP since almost everything else can be enabled in the old CP.

This driver works pretty well for me. I put the old CP back and now the new CP doesn't bother me anymore.

I played through the new Prey demo and performance was great and visual quality was just as good as before. I didn't notice any anomolies. I can't think of anything else to report on...

Acanthus My current windows install is fresh (only two weeks old). 84.43 is the only driver other than 91.31 official my main system has seen (tried the beta 91.31 on my 6600gt rig). System was reimaged to a point prior to any graphics driver being present before installing 91.31, so no way that 84.43 could have interfered in any way.

I'm still interested in seeing what the new control panel looks like

It will never be free, because of dvd/codec royalties.

couldn't they include that in the price of the cards?

You'd have to write to BFG/Evga about that. They probably wont do that though, because not many of us are interested in that.

It IS included in the price of the card if you buy the Purevideo decoder from Nvidia
But jacking up prices higher for all of us under the illusion that it will be "free" for us to get that decoder is delusional.

No such thing as a free lunch dude.

Do these drivers still set the LOD really high? (like 3+ in RivaTuner?)

Because the beta version of these drivers (at least the XG Beta's) still have that in the 91 series drivers.

The standard coolbits doesn't do it, you get the new custom resolutions and refresh rates page instead (which doesn't bloody well remeber the refresh rates you set in it!) I had to use nv tweak to get the refresh override page.

About the purevideo comments, I think you meant to aim them at redbox/josh, not me? I'm certainly under no illusions about purevideo ever being free.

should fix the SLI pop up message on every reboot with these drivers,I can confirm Coolbits work with these drivers if you use it with the standard classic CP,not tried it with the new CP since I hate it.

Update: No SLI pop up message now which is great and games work fine even with non SLI boards like mine, however I still get the same stupid Nvidia tray icon load up on every reboot ,even when I have it disabled in CP,only fix for that is to deselect it again in control panel after each reboot, guess I can live with that until it is fixed.

Who's redbox/josh? I type that in to find that user and nothing comes up.....

I guess that makes you Gstandfor/begger since he's the only other one who has gotten us two confused as one.

Settle down, I was responding to the possibility, unlikely imo, of nv forcing people to use it in later releases.

IIRC new FWs are supposed to allow you to skip purevideo, and just buy the latest from CyberLink, InterVideo, and Nero, to get all the PV benefits now. Including H.264, VC-1, and MPEG-2 HD hardware acceleration.

If Vista is in your future, then you had better get used to it...

Its actually quite rare for me to go anywhere near the control panel for a good driver. nHancer controls almost everything I need controlled.

Look at my post closely, there is a "/" between the two names. Maybe the bold confused you, or maybe you just overlooked it.

Thanks for actually answering my question Bush.

Settle down there Gstanfor. I don't think purevideo would be free I just think it should be sold with the card. I tried to find out if ATI's avivo was free but I can't find anything, does ATI charge for their service. I think purevideo is better than avivo but if ATI includes avivo with the card then that leaves less for the end user to buy and load up. At any rate I think it would be in Nvidia's favor to make it easier for users to use their cards and all of the features.

The new control center has the aim of doing that but after using it for a little while I don't think it is implemented very well. I miss being able to right click on the name of a function and get a description of what it does. That helps out alot. I found the new control center harder to navigate then the old one. If this is indeed the future as you claim then I hope Nvidia gets better at designing their layouts. Just my $.02.

As far as the purevideo feature goes I think of it like HDTV capable and ready T.V's. If a consumer goes to best buy or another store like it, they usually have a limited amount of knoweledge. And in my eyes all this 'well the card is capable of using those features but you have to enable it buy buying this, this, and this' is just going to confuse alot of shoppers and anger some. If joe six pack could choose between getting a HDTV capable tv and one that is already a full blown HDTV I think he would pick the real deal full HDTV one.

Hope this clears some things up.
