Olympus c-4000 for $274

This camera retails for $500 but heres the run down

Staples has it for $500 while Allhome electronics Has it for $320. It also states at the bottom of thier page that all cameras are new and have USA warrenties!!!!!!! They ARE ALSO NOT GRAY MARKET!!!
SICK THING ABOUT THE DEAL IS ITS LEGIT IF THEY WILL DO IT

Do a PM $500-198(110% PM) = $302 - 30 off 150 coupon = $274 plus tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To top off this deal, staples is offering a $20 Gift card for $150 purchases!!!!

One last thing. They might charge shipping which was $20 ,none the less still an amazing deal

Also, knowing you guys, there are non printable $40 and $50 off coupons floating around as well as a $50 MIR if you puchase an camera and a HP Printer PRINTER CAMERA MIR

No way - 60$ next day shipping, not 20$, seems that it is better to get the camera from Allhome electronics. Does seems to be great price and free standard shipping with discover card purchase.

LETS slap this with a very mild case off YMMV

Do you know if this comes with any media disk and does it have tripod mount. 4.0 mega pixel is supposed to be on par with 35mm camera.

Staples wouldn't do PM today(Sunday) say PMs ovr 100$ have to be apprv'd by corporate. Also quoted 50$ shipping cuz AllHome offers 5-10 bus days for free not nxt day.

For 4x6" prints, I agree that a 4.0mp digital camera will produce images as good as you'd get from a 35mm camera.

For 5x7" prints, very possibly as good.

For 8x10" and larger, nope. Oh, the results may still be perfectly adequate, especially for non-critical viewing. They just won't be on par with 35mm.

I'm not knocking digital. I like digital cameras. A lot. In many (but not all) ways, they're great. And if you never go beyond 5x7", 4mp is just fine. (Frankly, anything over 3mp is just fine.) And the overwhelming majority of people rarely -- if ever -- go beyond 4x6" photos.

Of course, there's more to image quality than megapixels. I'll take a 3mp camera with excellent lens, software, etc., over a mediocre 4mp camera, any day. (Same way that an excellent 1.6ghz computer can be better for most purposes than a mediocre 2ghz computer.)

Right! and if you look futher down, it says to expect dlv'ry in 5-10 bus days so Staples matched thier price. Would it be worth another try with a different rep?

As an S230 owner, I'm tempted to say that nothing is better than the S230. (That wouldn't be true, maybe. But it'd be the loyal thing to say.)

All kidding aside, one of the S230's big advantages is its extremely compact size. The C-4000 isn't huge, but it's nowhere near as compact as the S230. So depending on how interested you are in pocketability, you might be able to choose between the two right there.

Other than that, they differ in all sorts of minor ways. metal vs. plastic, 2x zoom vs. 3x zoom. 3mp vs. 4mp. Compact Flash vs. Smart Media. Availability of a high quality movie mode, types of batteries they take, variety of image effects, playback capabilities, etc. In some of these areas, the S230 has an advantage, in others the C-4000 does. And, of course, some of these features which may be of little importance to you, could be of great importance to the next guy.

If you like, you may read a reasonably detailed review of the Canon at
S230 Review and one for the Olympus at C-4000 Review . Neither camera sounds inherently and objectively superior to the other, but they do have very different strengths and weaknesses, and so one might well prove clearly superior for a given individual.

Yup, it's got a tripod mount.

I would imagine just about every digital camera beyond the entry level (and probably most of those) comes with tripod mount. But I know (and am not just assuming) that the C-4000 has one, since the review includes a photo of the camera's baseplate, and a tripod socket is clearly visible.

I just tried PMing with a Staples phone rep. She said no go because allhomeelectronics is not an authorized reseller. I'm new here...does this mean I should try again, or is this not really legit?

Just tried PMing @ Staples.com and N.G.! Staples CSR said they couldn't get in touch over phone w/ AllHomeElectronics to verify prices and stock.

Placed my order yesterday. Met with some resistence initially becuase Staples CSR told me that the manufactures item number had to appear on Allhomeelctronics site. She originally tried to deny me. Then I noticed that Allhome's item number matched the manufactures number listed on Staples and pointed this out to her. She aggreed and placed my order. Now waiting for corprate office approval given that pricematch was greater than $100.00....fingers crossed.....will keep you posted

thats bull. They had lot in stock. They are just being gay with this cause their price is a lot higher. I hate whens companies make a PMING policy and then dont stick to it.

"out of stock" in Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, etc.
The word she used was "deactivated item" which I suspect may be what they call it when the scenario FFactory0x described occurs.

Interesting, I just got called by CSR and she told me that they declined my pricematch because allhome is not an authorized reseller. I asked if I could contest the pricematch and she gave me the info. Then I reviewed staples pricematch policy to find out where that "new clause" was and as I was reading through it for the second time my phone rang. It was the CSR calling to tell me she had made a mistake and the pricematch had been approved...ChaChing.

$305.82 final cost with shipping and tax.

I do truly believe this deal is dead however, Allhome is out of stock.

I am just curious though, can anyone else find on the staples pricematch policy where it says that the item must come from an authorized reseller?

Here is the policy
