sadly I can't show my #'s other than as a comparison to older systems. I hadn't been running the quads long enough to get to their full RAC #'s. I was hoping for ~5000 on the x3350 and 4500 on the q9450, both with the v2.4 optimized app, but unfortunately hadn't gotten there yet. I'm now in the same boat as my computers are ramping up to their "true" RAC numbers, but if I had to guess I'd say that I'll end up around 13500 on the two combined.

I'll have to agree with bryan here. with the v2.4 optimized, my q6600s (I have 4) were averaging anywhere between 3k(stock) to 4k(OC to 3.0), and my x3210 was at 2.8k... my x3350(OC to 3.0) looked like it was going to setting around 4.5k.... but now with the new v8.0 aps... I haven't seen a leveling point yet... my x3350(oc to 3.0) is at 5.2K and still climbing... my q6600(3 of them OC to 3Ghz) are nearing 4.9k, k ... bah.. i'll just copy and past from seti

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz [EM64T Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6] Microsoft Windows Vista (ultimate 64bit)

these are my current avg and everything is still climbing climbing with no leveling off in sight yet. even my phenom has seen a huge jump... before v8.0.. it was averaging around 2kppd... now with the v8.0, it is now beating my E8400... with v2.4, the E8400 was beating the phenom9500, now the tables have turned. I might have to seriously look at the new phenoms again.

I finally got my Abit IP35-E back so I'll give these new Opt Clients a go.

BTW, I noticed we can have our own team forum on BOINC. (Not that we need another one)

Seti@Home TeAm AnandTech Forum on the BOINC Forums

[edit] Not exactly what I thought it was supposed to be. erase erase erase (if I can figure out how).

lol!!!

@dajeepster: the old v 2.4 didn't do much for amd since it only used sse2. the v8.0 takes advantage of sse3 on the newer amd cpus so you're seeing the jump from almost no optimization to v8.0. a Q6600 is still gonna stomp a phenom clock/clock, but it isn't as BAD of a stomp as it used to be.

here's a list of how everyone has done for the past 7 days. it's sortable, etc. everyone who is using the optimized clients has gotten a HUGE boost in the past few weeks, but you can even tell this week as more of the "slackers" from other teams turn in their companion wu's that our credit is just going higher.

just added the following to the op. peter and others with different cpus, please chime in with your results.

edit: 5/12 This app appears to have about a 40% improvement over the v2.4 optimized app on sse4.1-capable cpus (all current intel 45nm). I don't have any personal evidence on other systems, but it appears to have had a similar impact on sse3 amd cpus (which admittedly weren't getting much of a bump from v2.4) and ssse3 core-2 cpus. This is on top of the ~ 25% increase on ssse3 cpus and ~5-10% increase on amd cpus from the v2.4 optimized app.

ok, my x3350@3.6 is now #36 in the world in RAC and my q9450@3.4 is #64. I'm sure this won't last as more top producers download this client, but it's nice for now! I'll get a chance to see firsthand how well these do vs a Q6600 @3.4 or 3.6 once I get my Q6600 system up and running.

no, that's the rig that I am using the 3870 with for f@h. I didn't dedicate an entire core to it, but it has probably sucked out 1000-1500 ppd. My Q9450 is going to end up much better, as will the Q6600 if I can get a decent OC on it.

congrats on moving up to #18 btw dajeepster!

uh, btw, even with the 3870 going to town on f@h I'm still at #35 on that x3350. There are only 7 quads ahead of this unit even now, none of which belong to you!! You must have been looking at my q9450, which is only clocked at 3.4...

ps: todd hebert now has the #16 computer with his e5440 rig. Don't be surprised if he ends up very close to #1. good work, todd!

Well I've updated another 2 of my 5 SSE3 capable crunchers with the latest SSE3 client , that just leaves a S754 Sempron E6 rev to update. The other 2 are an Ath64 3700 & a E4400.

is your Ath64 3700+ SSE3 capable?... cpuz says that my Ath64 3000+ only has up to SSE2 so I didn't load the client on that one

I think that all the 3700+ cpus were sse3. It depends on the chip family for the older 3xxx athlons, but my 3200+ has sse3.

I'm pretty sure it does, it's a S939 San Diego version. [edit] Yep
And yea I'd love to overclock that baby but my dads paranoid enough as it is about failures (he's had a lot of PC problems lately) without adding in another variable .

Btw the older S754 Ath64 3700s would not have SSE3.
