I can't see why someone's pride would prevent them from jamming a fistful of catfood in their mouth in defense of their beliefs. No one will take the risk. Maybe they are afraid that if their boss sees the video they will get fired for being weird. We can change the stakes to something like running down the street in your underwear or something, on video of course. I'd do it with a painted Nvidia logo on my chest and back if I lost.
This is embarrassing stuff in the extreme. If people think they are so right and act like they know what is going to happen, step up and put yourself at risk in defense of your claims.

Does anyone know when these will go live on Nvidia's store? I know August 2nd, but like the 1080, I thought there was a specific time (going to buy two of them)... I purchased (2) 1080's on nvidias store a couple months back on launch day, but cant remember what the time was they went live for purchse.

Also, read elsewhere that only Nvidia will be manufacturing these and selling them and no other vendors will.

Heh. That's what I was afraid of.

Whats weird is other than the brief announcement of the new Titan X and its launch date, we've heard *nothing* else about it. No promotion from Nvidia, in depth reviews, nothing. They're promoting the absolute heck out of the new Quadro, 1080 and 1060.... but not even a single reminder about the Titan X. And the fact it will be NVidia store-only (no 3rd party permitted to sell it), makes me wonder why its getting the silent treatment?

They were supposed to go live at 9AM EST, but actually became available for sale 10-15 mins beforehand.

I'll be participating in F5 olympics on Aug 2.

4K downscaled to 1080p looks a lot better than 1080p+MSAA.

And I couldn't do it with Dark Souls 3

I am and 1080p at that. However I crank up the DSR and it does look much better to me. I hope that for once all the latest games will render at 4K.

Yeah much better. And even better if you combine DSR with some post process AA like FXAA or SMAA.

You can even watch slideshows of RoTR if you crank up resolution scaling and DSR and get an effective 8k. It looks unreal even on a 1080p TV.

Now see to me that would be playable and no need to get a new card. I guess what I'm trying to understand is who is this card targeted for if the 1080 seems good enough.

Man back in my day moving from consoles to PC it was 480i to 1024x768 and I was like WHOA. Now we're getting into 4k.

A GTX 1070 can't typically drive 1440p at 100+ Hz. The GTX 1080 would be my performance level threshold for 1440p with all settings on all games (sans extreme AA). The 1070 will sacrifice some settings with certain games from the start.

Then again, I'm not willing to spend $650 on a graphics card so my opinions do not line up with current market conditions.

They will be fine, that doesn't mean they can't do better. A 1070 will not maintain 100-144fps at 1440p and neither will the new Titan X for many games without reducing settings, but it will be a lot closer.
