They will be fine, that doesn't mean they can't do better. A 1070 will not maintain 100-144fps at 1440p and neither will the new Titan X for many games without reducing settings, but it will be a lot closer.

I'm not expecting 100hz or more it just happened thats what the monitor had and was on sale so I said why not. With new games these days, hardware will always be pushed.

Then why are people saying if I want 1440p the 1070 will do fine, I've got a gsync monitor with it too. I'm not counting frames I'm just want better performance than sticking at 1080p with a Rx 480.

60hz is the standard refresh rate and is usually assumed unless otherwise stated. The GTX 1070 is the most cost effective, little to no compromise s 1440p card to buy, but for those that want to push refresh rates well beyond 60hz, the 1080p is your next best, and needed, stop.

Just because you have a higher refresh rate, does not mean that it is "needed" to reach that refresh rate in FPS. Running without V-sync is much better on high refresh rates, regardless of your FPS.

Unless it's 3x faster then a 980Ti, I don't see it pulling off 100+ in AC:U @ 1440p

If you turn down AA to 2x, shadows to medium, and post processing from max to high that 30 fps will shoot to 60fps easily. You don't have to turn every single slider to max in that game to get 99.9% as good image quality and passable performance. Maxing the sliders on a game with hundreds of ai models on the screen is going to tax GPU resources significantly without appreciable visible gain.

I'm sure a single Titan XP can easily hit 100 fps range consistently at 1440P with just a few minor tweaks.

TW3 will be close. It runs around 70fps maxed out at 1440p. If the TXP is 40% faster, it'll be right around 100fps. However, I don't think we will see the performance gaps that we saw between the 680 and Titan or the 980 and Titan X. So I'm expecting something around 90-95fps typically, which is still pretty damn good and would definitely have me playing through that game again (and maybe even with some mods).

I personally think part of Newegg's "Premier" program should be the ability to preorder limited quantities of yet to be released items so we don't have to do that crap. (Not that this applies here, my understanding it the new Titan is initially available only through nVidia).
