By the end of 2016 games like Total War Warhammer, DOOM (Vulkan), Deus Ex MinKind Divided, Battlefield 1, WatchDogs 2 will all take part in VEGA/GTX 1080Ti reviews. This will not be another Fury X vs GTX 980Ti back in 2015.

Yeah...honestly didn't expect GP102 to arrive until the fall, so I had hoped to get more time with the 1080s. Guess not.

Anyway, probably a good thing. SLI doesn't work on a lot of the games I play, so it's better for me to go back to a single card again. Hopefully one of these days I'll learn to never, ever touch SLI again.

Since I run the two rigs below, I've decided to focus on high end single cards. I previously had 2 R9 290s in CF in my 4790k rig and wanted to go to a high end single card. Would have preferred AMD but Fury/FuryX was a no go since I already had a GTX 980TI SC in my 5960x rig and could replace the 2 R9 290s with that.

I kept hearing the "wait for Vega" line but when GTX 1080 lept on the scene I grabbed it, sold the 290s and moved the GTX 980 TI over.

Sounds like any variation of Vega isn't coming out till late 2016 if at all this year.

I have control over the GPUs I buy. I have no influence over developers.

The thing is you have no control when new hardware will release. For consumers, its better Devs to make better and more optimized games than spending endlessly on new hardware every 3-4 months.

Double the VRAM of 980 Ti, gutted chip and no double precision.

Make no mistake, NV is hawking a 980 Ti successor for $1200 - nearly twice what we should be paying. Please don't support this. If NV hasn't gone too far yet, they have now.

AtenRa, Will any Vega even be out by the end of 2016?

That's like saying Politicians are corrupt but hey what can I do, how about not voting them to power?

I don't spend my time feeling bad that some games aren't as optimized as some people would like. It's not productive and it's certainly not fun.

I buy and play games that I think will be fun and I just want them to work well. I am willing to buy the appropriate hardware to make sure that games run as I'd like them to.

I would never, ever "boycott" a game, especially if it's an installment in a franchise that I enjoy, because it's not "optimized to my liking."

The earliest I can see small Vega launch is early Q1 2017. For big Vega early Q3 2017. Realistically mid Q1 2017 / mid Q3 2017 for small and big Vega respectively. GP102 will be uncontested for almost a year which is good for Nvidia but bad for gamers as they have to pay for the lack of competition.

Yea, I dont see VEGA in 2016 more like Q1 2017.

But as i have said before, even if AMD would release VEGA TODAY, NVIDIAs GP102 TITAN X would still be $1200.

Jesus Christ people. This GPU is $1,200.00. There shouldn't be any room for rationalization here. This is just stupid as all hell at this point and it's not even the full chip with hbm2 like we all know is coming.

The full chip with HBM2 you're referring to is GP100, an HPC-oriented product. It's not going to come to gamers.

I expect HBM2 to come to NVIDIA's consumer line with Volta.

Ok so you really think nvidia is giving you the best gaming pascal chip with this Titan x? I expect a full pascal chip with hbm2 to come along or at least a faster pascal GPU. This $1,200 card is a cutdown version. That's disgusting.

This cut down version is what would have been released as a 1080Ti if nVidia had the competition necessary for it. But they don't, so now we get a 1080Ti for a Titan price tag.

Aside from a fully unlocked 3840 shader version, this is the best Pascal gaming GPU. GP100 is filled with double precision shaders that are just a waste.

I do expect in about a year we will see Volta with HBM2 tailored for gaming.

Are they really going into Volta that fast? I guess it looks possible given how fast they're pushing Pascal out at the moment.

We'll find out

With the way FE sales have gone you really think Nvidia needed to price the Titan at 1080Ti levels, even if AMD had a superior (like big Vega) product? Nvidia basically created this market segment, the excuse they gave with the original Titan was that it had excellent compute (DP) & so was priced accordingly, as a cheaper alternative to Quadro, for professionals. Thereon they've not only gimped DP & yet the Titan flies off the shelves as some halo product, though now it's aimed towards gamers. AMD has nothing to with it because anyone who has top $ & wants Nvidia will get the Titan regardless of the competition.

Interestingly enough, I received my 4gb RX 480 Sapphire reference card last night and on the back of the box it noted support for "2-way crossfire".......

Don't worry Fam Raja got you with 2x Rx 490 (which is rumored dual Polaris 10).

Quad-Fire for $1,000!

I am betting the profit margin on these cards will be near 50% if not higher.
I wonder if nvidia would make a dual version of this card?
