I don't know what would happen with the Vram. Probably nothing I guess. 12gb for all of them. Maybe they can increase the Titan black to 16gb.
I don't know if 12gb is the max for these cards or what. 16gb for titan black and 12gb 1080ti would make some sense. Full chip Titan black, existing cut down version or similar for 1080ti.

Yes, it could go one way or the other. Since GDDR5X supports non-power-of-2 chip capacities, they might end up with some interesting capacities, that is if they decide to use the same 384-bit wide memory on both.

A: 1080 Ti: 9 GB, Titan X Black: 12 GB

B: 1080 Ti: 12 GB, Titan X Black: 18 GB

It's not about if NVidia is manufacturing the cards or not. They are simply SUGGESTING to partners that they sell their stock, non-OCed cards at $600. That's all. They simply ignored NVidia and set their own prices. No surprises there. It's been like this in many occasions in the past.

Yes, there will be $600 1080s, like there are $250 1060s.

As for titan P, $1199, $1200, what's the difference? It's still too damn expensive. Those who care about their money will wait for 1080 Ti.

And yet again, the MANUFACTURER is EVGA, MSI etc and they are setting the MSRP of their cards ABOVE $600, lowest is $649 afaik.

That is the MSRP for their cards, if the RETAILERS price them above that, that is supply/demand/gouging from the RETAILER, but the MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE (MSRP) is still over $649 not $600.

We've seen the $250 MSRP 1060s just like we've seen $300 MSRP 1060s, or are you trying to tell me the $300 MSRP 1060 are also $250 MSRP but price gouged?

You are mixing up everything. Nvidia sets an MSRP for stock, non-OC cards. Partners can choose to follow it or not. That's all. Doesn't matter who makes them. It's been like this for years.

How come they followed NVidia's $250 MSRP for 1060 but not for 1070 and 1080? Market.

Yes, I should have included partners in my original comment. They, too, can ignore the main MSRP, as they are doing now, because they can get away with it, for now.

This doesn't seem all that important. Market prices will fall where what the market will bear. And it bears it. End of story and absolutely nothing new.

Everyone is missing the real tragedy of the Titan XP and its timing and pricing....

After 10 years of building PCs, I finally bought my first top of the charts GPU (1080) instead of getting the 2nd or 3rd tier. My hubris provoked the cruel GPU gods inhabiting Silicon Valley. Their Zeus (i.e. Jen-Hsun Huang) looked upon my gloating with disgust. Thereon, he sent out the Titan XP, an unforeseen thunderbolt, to strike the grin off of my mortal countenance. My reign at the top of the charts lasted about 2 weeks.

You talk about market pressures, pricing, and profits? Bah humbug, I say. The Titan XP was a godly portent against mortal arrogance, a stricture that superiority is fleeting and control illusory.

(and profits too).

Aha well honestly you should have expected that. Top of the line hardware is just that...until its not. :sneaky:

with zero competition. nvidia is milking this to the max. who could blame nvidia. capitalism at its finest.

truly. for anyone who can afford a top tier gpu (1080). they will have no problem upgrading to titan xp need be. and especially the 1080ti.

if it weren't for that dinosaur sli brige. would already be that band wagon too.

Well, I'm noticing quite a few games that are actually CPU bottlenecked after installing the new Titan X, at 1440p max settings... Crazy stuff. My next upgrade is going to have to be a new platform.

What are you currently using for CPU?

Returning to the topic, the card itself miss more potential. Is very good, but still, seems that nVIDIA needs an AIB model which delivers ALL their potential. I bet that the clock limit is not locked this time. So expect someone getting up to 3.00 Ghz on clock speed.

PS: They are milking since their ARM project ended into a massive disaster (even Mediatek is catching them up) and if Nintendo NX fails, they won't win any money but only from the GPU cards and the Automobile/Car projects . Also their server project depends heavily on how effective Power PC is since Intel blocked nVILINK from them due Xeon Phi and Optane.

i7-6700K is king for gaming unless you want 3+ mGPU configurations. Which is <1% of the market.

Oh boy, you guys are making me want to do an upgrade

Before I drop like 2 grand on new parts can anybody show me benchies that would truly show me what fps increases I can expect from a new platform ?

You probably won't find the 3930K benched with a modern GPU anywhere, but here's the GTX 1080 on the 4930K and everything up to Broadwell-E:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i7-broadwell-e-6950x-6900k-6850k-6800k,4587-3.html

In some of these games, the difference is dramatic, and the Titan X would add another 30% to those numbers.

You've spent a lot on the GPU - probably time to give the rest of that system a little attention!

3.0 GHz? I highly doubt that. I agree that the air cooler isn't up to par, which is why I'm still thinking about putting two of these under water. I have been reading forums online and (just like here) the debate is raging between those waiting for a potential 1080Ti and those getting the Titan Pascal. I'm inclined to think that Nvidia will not put out a 1080Ti unless Vega threatens its single gpu performance crown but that eventuality is looking highly unlikely to me at this stage. Choices, choices...

Depends whether you want to wait until the next gen of cpu's or not. I would try and get a 6700k if you can find them for a good rate. I got mine at microcenter a month ago for $289. Overall that should give you a better performance boost. I run mine stock but I've heard that they easily overclock to 4.5ghz.

Tempted to get a 4.8 Ghz binned chip from Silicon Lottery with a delid. Hey if I'm gonna go big I might as well do it right.

I wouldn't do it. I had a couple of 6700Ks, and the worse one did 4.6GHz and the better one did 4.7GHz. Not worth the premium for 100-200MHz, IMO.
