I had purchased some brand new PC parts like over a year ago, to build a PC for my MAME cabinet. The parts I bought brand new like a year ago was like 5 year old hardware at the time, so it's older stuff.

Today I finally started to put everything together and am having issues with no video upon initial booting.

I tried basically disconnecting everything aside from the CPU and RAM, and I am getting the same results.

This PC is not in a case so I am jumping the pins to power it on.

I see the CPU fan power on so I know that is working, but nothing comes on screen.

The motherboard has onboard VGA and DVI and neither of them are working.

I tried the video card I have as well which is PCIE and it has HDMI and VGA, and neither of those work as well.

I've tried another power supply and same result.

I have tried reseating the CPU and same result.

I've tried removing the CMOS battery for over 30 mins and same result.

I have 2 sticks of RAM and have tried every combination possible in both RAM slots and nothing.

It is an ASUS H110M-C motherboard and an i3-7350k CPU.

Anyone have any suggestions on what else I can try before I just order a different motherboard to use?

So this is interesting...

I guess I hadn't tried all RAM combos.

I tried putting both in different sides of A/B, then I tried putting both alone in slot A.

However now I just tried putting one in just B and after letting CMOS battery sit out for 30 mins, it booted right up.

Then if I put the other RAM into slot A, it won't boot up.

So I guess something is jacked up with the RAM slot A.

I am not telling you anything you do not know, but the board was likely nerfed when you bought it. It's possible the IMC on the 7350K is faulty, but Intel was so reliable back then, I still would have to wager on the board being the culprit.

As far as suggestions; Update bios, or older bios if on the last one. 90% or higher isopropyl to clean out all of the slots on the board and wiped down the CPU and ram contacts. Doing this has made seemingly faulty GPU or ram slots come back to life more times than a zombie movie for me. Try a different ram kit. Replace CMOS battery. The usual.

I will try to clean out the RAM slot and check to see on the underside if there is anything that looks suspicious about the solder job. It's definitely not the actual RAM itself though because both RAM pieces work in the B slot.

Is the IMC thing you are talking about on the CPU something that could cause the RAM in slot A not to work? Or were you replying without seeing my 2nd post when you mentioned that?

I also realized that my other MAME PC has 8gb total RAM (2x4) and it's more than enough, so this being 8gb sticks (1x8) may be just fine in the end.

The integrated memory controller on a CPU can be faulty. It is rare though. More so for a new in box CPU; new old stock or not. Both sticks working alone, does indeed make the mobo the prime suspect. Far more likely to have BSODs or other instability than a non boot, if the ram kit sticks were not playing well with each other.

If you can't get the slot working, and single channel mode negatively impacts performance too much, you can get a working combo that should do the job, for $50-$60 shipped example

Yeah thanks, I am going to just get this up and running and see how performance on it is and if it's fine, I'm just going to let it be.
