most you need is the corsair hx520 PS. I have a ultra x-pro 600, though its a good ps, i hate the way it squeals when the fan spins up. Lookinto PC P&C PS's also

Two more things....... Theres other places than newegg to shop... look for our hot deals section for low prices, there is a xeon G0 quad for $249! You should choose the 64 bit of vista ultimate should you choose to up the ram to more than 4GB and 64 bit programs are popping up everywhere. Remember.... youre going to use this for more than 5 years.


one very last thing..... I heard creative vista drivers suck and people have a lot of trouble with their sound cards... unless this is untrue, I'd wait til they release some next gen sound cards.

sound cards are basically done, especially since onboard sound is now basically on par with what creative has to offer

not only that, but I have heard that newer EAX versions do not work with vista

don't waste your money on a sound card, instead go down to a 520 and use the money from that and the sound card to get a gtx

How can I make sure I get G0 stepping and not B3?

Also drop the soundcard and move up to GTX. Go down to the X3 600 watt instead of 800. And switch to 64Bit Vista.

Server grade PSU, and it comes for a bargain to, especially compared to that ultra ...

Folks have $ to burn. $50 Antec Earthwatts 500 is cool and quiet. No problemo with ANY single core GPU. PSU is marketed as dual rail, but it's actually a single 34A rail at +12V.

Why in forbez name would you use a computer for more then 5 years? It makes much more sense to constantly update the machine... when buying hardware you should think about when you are going to replace it... and set a yearly allowance for computer parts..

ETASIS makes THE BEST PSU's on the market. Higher bin and tier then Seasonic.
