I ordered the 165 already at monarch, its on its way. Need feedback please. I am going to be ocing as much as I can.

that doesn't look like a PC for someone who's a bit tight on cash You could always drop back the graphics card, case, ram, etc

its a great system but i just dont like the opteron processors i would get a 4400 X2 and im not sure about that ram some of my favorates are Corsair and OCZ

I can OC the opteron 165 past 4400+ stock speeds.

Looks pretty good, hope you are getting a good quality PSU to power that thing. I think the raptors are a bit of an overkill. I had 2x36gb raptors in raid-0 and replaced them with a single 160GB WD SATA II hard drive, and can't really tell the differance, other than having a drive thats just as fast, with a lot more space, that cost a lot less.

Trade that 2nd Raptor drive for a larger capacity drive (storage) or skip it altogether.

Everything else looks good, and should be a rocking rig.

Oh, and don't skimp on the power supply... it's the heart of your system.

Ditch the lanparty? I probably wont. I am focused on ocing. That mobo has had great feedback from a lot of friends and a lot of people on this forum. Also, i'm going to want SLI eventually anyway.

Yeah... it looks all right. I was reading some threads earlier about how DFI boards are pure crap. We'll see... but yaeh it looks good. Don't skimp on your PSU. Otherwise you might notice some system instability or even slowdowns. And you won't be able to overclock as well.

The Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W is about the best you can get for a reasonable price... The differences...

TruePower II 500W

- more expensive (16 bucks)
- single 120mm fan
- 38Amps on dual 12V rails
- SLI certified
- no sleeved cables (apart from the main connectors)

SmartPower 2.0 500W

- cheaper
- 80mm + 90mm fans
- 36Amps on dual 12V rails
- sleeved cables
- modular

No matter which one you pick, they're both very good...

EDIT: The LanParty is about the best overclocking mobo out there, but consider EPoX as well... It isn't as picky on the RAM and on PSU's... Raptors in a RAID are a complete waste of money... They may be fast, but they aren't competitive when it comes to size...

Paying that much for a case...? Why not pay more, and take a ThermalTake Shark? I have one myself, and this is by far the best case I have ever owned... Chieftecs look like toys compared to this one... Its cooling is very good, with two silent 120mm fans...It's door is fully made of aluminium too...
