New PCBuild

Hi. This is relatively last minute (or last 12 hours) since I am aiming to get this computer tomorrow, and its already just past 1am... so I'm getting it today

I'm already at the limit of my budget, but any suggestions are welcome, so fire away!

Here she is:

Mobo: Asus P5KE
CPU: Intel Q6600
Memory: Corsair 2x2GB DDR800 X series (TWIN2X4096-6400C6DHX)
Hdd: 2x Seagate 7200.11 500GB SATA 2
DVD Drive: Asus Lightscribe DRW-1814BLT
GPU: EVGA nVidia Geforce 8800GTS 512MB
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
PSU: Enermax Liberty 620W
OS: Windows XP Home

The only things I will reconsider are: the PSU, mobo, and possibly OS (is there much diff between XP Home, and Pro 64bit, other than obvious RAM support). I'm reasonably fixed on the case since it was down to the Coolermaster COSMOS, Thermaltake Armor, or Antec Nine Hundred, and the Antec was cheaper.

Please give feedback. I want to make the right decision.

4GB & XP Home = :thumbsdown:
A-Data 2GB DDR2 <
Liberty 620W = can go smaller and cheaper
Earthwatts 500W ,
Cosmos = I've got one, but... HUGE & heavy

I just ordered a computer very similar to yours! I'm getting Vista Home premium 64-bit instead and an E8400, but overall our builds seem very similar (identical case and hard drive infact).

I agree with Blain, except about the RAM/XP Home issue. As cheap as DDR2 is, you may as well get 4GB. It won't cause any errors with XP, you just won't quite get to use all of it.

I rang the shop this morning, and apparently they don't have any EVGA cards in (2-3 week wait), and they're also out of the Enermax Liberty 620W... The alternatives they gave me were an MSI brand GPU, and a Corsair 620 HX PSU. Is MSI reliable? Everyone seems to be going for EVGA, which makes me wonder about MSI (the other alternative was Palit, which doesn't sound so good to me.

they're also out of the Enermax Liberty 620W... , and a Corsair 620 HX PSU.

* The Corsair 620 is a good quality PS.
* MSI builds solid reliable video cards.
Does the MSI card use the same 8800GTS GPU as the EVGA you originally asked about?
