New PNY CS2211 MLC SATA6G SSD, faster than SM951 in 4KQD32?

My 4KQ32T1 scores for my SM951 128GB drive in an overclocked G4400 rig @ 4.455Ghz, are around 240MB/sec read, and 226MB/sec write.

My 4K QD1 scores are around 43MB/sec read, and 121MB/sec write.

According to the review above, the new PNY SSD, even though it is only SATA6G, is similar or faster. Cheaper, too.

Well your score seem off a bit, but just know that the "128GB" SM951 version is probably not near as fast as the bigger ones.. PCIe interface can't make the SSD controller more efficient and less NAND means slower with the newer SSD's who's controllers are optimized for larger amounts of NAND..

I don't think my scores are low. The SM951 is known for it's high sequentials, not random I/O.

My PCI-E SM951 scores 2000 MB/sec read and 600MB/sec write (almost) in sequential, which is up to spec.

Remember, it's still AHCI, not NVMe.

Are you saying that my AHCI PCE-E SSD should be performing better?

I just tried a few combinations of RST, RAID mode in my UEFI on my ASRock Z170 Pro4S, and things.

First off, the driver for my AHCI PCI-E SSD, is and was always "Microsoft". I had read somewhere that RST required the system chipset SATA mode to be "RAID", in order to use Intel drivers to control a PCI-E SSD. So I tried that. It didn't work.

Neither the RST 14.6.x.x or 14.8.x.x would even acknowledge that I had a PCI-E SSD present. Nor would the Intel RAID BIOS screen. It only listed my two SATA SSDs.

Anyways, I get consistent scores of around 240MB/sec read and 232MB/sec write, for 4K QD32.

Here's a YouTube review of my SSD. They're using an older version of CDM. My scores exceed all of those, EXCEPT for the 4K QD32 read scores, those are twice what mine are. Strange. Let me try an older version of CDM, maybe the benchmark has changed.

128G should hit 90k IOPS in reads (so in excess of 350MB/s)...

Check the cpu usage while running the benchmark, i think that some tests (probably the QD32) relies heavily on the CPU.

Although, I think your processor should be fast enough ..
