Ugh. That shoe thing if I cared would be enough for me to open up a retail store JUST to order direct from the manufacturer and have first dibs on everything and bypass the re sellers because that's just the kind of shit I do. Why? Because FU that's why.

The best sellers are only released in certain stores. Nike releases things in their own stores (which there are like 8 in the country...). Occasionally very special shoes will be available for a specific store in a specific part of the country (Lebron James had a special color release only in a Miami shop).

Blame the manufacturers for creating artificial demand that allows this type of thing. They could make hundreds of millions of "special edition" anything. But then it wouldn't be special.

Amazon itself doesn't carry Nintendo hardware anymore.

Third parties can sell it, but they'll be behind the curve and won't get the more exclusive items.

The rumor is that the 3DS launch was bad and amazon had a ton of unsold systems in warehouses. They demanded a bigger wholesale discount from Nintendo. This request was denied. Amazon said they had to replace a lot of systems for issues in QC so they asked to be able to sell them at a discount. Nintendo denied them again. So amazon started sending them back to Nintendo and demanded immediate credit on the systems because of small trivial defects. Nintendo got pissy and amazon told them to take a hike, they can't have product sitting in a warehouse and not moving.

Anyway that's the rumor.

If the rumor is to be believed, it would seem that Nintendo bullies or tries to bully the retailers as well as the 3rd parties developing software.

At least I know what to expect now. I WILL be prepared to have 3 minimum Zelda 3DS XLs if there is one if I have to use multiple accounts. One to keep sealed in my collection, one to open and use as my primary DS platform, and one to pay for the other two after they are sold out.

I'm still pissed I missed the OoT black 3DS, I wasnt paying attention to modern releases at the time and now they are $500. I WILL make up for it.
