UPDATE: ACCORDING TO alchemize this same TV will be ON SALE this WEDNESDAY (11/13) for $207 at Sears. Also, you can PM Circuit City and get it for $197.

----------------ORIGINAL POST----------------

I was looking all over for a Flat screen 20inch television for around $250 for a b-lated bday present for my sister whos starting out in a new apt. All I could find were Sonys/ Toshibas priced at $300 (no dvd). I went to Sears and it surprised me to fine a Apex Flat-Screen television w/DVD player for $229:Q

Apex 20 in. TV/DVD Combo, Flat Picture Tube, S-Video, MTS Stereo Sound for $229
until 11/11/02. Available B&M too!
Big Pic

And if you price match this to Circuit City, you'll get it for $223.

Next closest thing to this Apex was a Toshiba 20inch w/VCR Flat Tube for $329.
Anyone know who makes Apex? I own their 3-disk DVD player and its region free

This seems pretty nice. I just bought the APEX DVD Player (region-hackable) from Sears, but havent tried it yet. Anyone know how the quality of this APEX item would be?

I got a mailer that says they are having 10% off next weekend. Go back and get a price adjustment.

I was wondering.... does Sears still have the 10% off when you open a new Sears Credit Card?

Are there any restrictions to this also?

Hmm this might be the deal I'm finally looking for! Might wait for it to mature a day and see if I can find any better deals, but this seems pretty hot for the combo.

I went in the Puente Hills Mall (So CAL) Sears B&M location and their display showed price good until 11/11.

I'm going to get one today at Sears, after I return my black Panasonic 20inch (not flat):disgust:/VCR combo to Costco. I got it for $200 and its a discontinued model. I'll update at around 2-3pm to confirm the date the sale ends.

I'm definitely picking one up Wed.

My trusty basement Sony 20" of 10 years finally went dead. Used to be I could smack it really hard on the top and it would come back on.

I look at as the Kmart HiSense deal is $160, so this you throw in a DVD player for $46 extra (I don't think the Kmart one had S-Video, might not have been stereo even)

Hisense is stereo and does have S-video, and the picture is also very, very good. However, I'm still kicking myself for not being patient and getting this deal instead, since having an additional dvd for $40 more (and perhaps hackable) would be so much more of a deal.

How the hell did Amazon know that i went around shopping for an Apex at Sears.com?
I thought they are only partners with Circuit City
Probably they are sharing COOKIES :|

Wednesday 11-13 through Sat 11-16. The 10% off is good for appliances too, might have to find a Refrigerator on sale with a rebate or something

because you obviously forgot about visiting the amazon page and don't know anything about cookies. because while not impossible, 'sharing' cookies isn't some stupid setting... sites have to be setup in the correct way. cookies have a domain which can read them... a domain is amazon.com, microsoft.net, etc etc. only the domain that sets them, or if a subdomiain (xxx.amazon.com) then sometimes the parent domain, can read/write cookies. its part of their structure.

now when visiting a web page like yahoo.com, about a year ago you might have received a cookie from doubleclick.net or some other ad site. in that way, domains could 'share' cookies by having a shared resource (such as an image) on the same domain. so amazon and sears would both have to reference an image on doubleclick.net. nowadays, however, IE6 blocks cookies from 3rd party domains. that is why yahoo and others have moved to having their own ad sites (which normally simply interface with their resellers)... like us.a1.yimg.com.

now who knows, maybe by viewing the image linked in the first post amazon tracked you by that. but they certainly didn't share info with another domain and competitor with no business ties! geez.

and according to sears' page, it plays vcds.
