ok, i have it out of the case. It does the same thing. Powers on for 1 sec, shuts down. WTF? Never had this happen before.

I guess I'm gonna go back to fry's to exchange the mobo. Damn it!

My AMD 64 system did the same thing...no beeps. The power supply fan and cpu fan would spin for 1-2sec, then shuts off. Turns out the CPU was the problem.

You're an assho|e. He did have a nice attitude until someone told him wrong forum. The forum is off topic, meaning anything goes you filthy little sh!t fvcker.

Does your mobo have the two power connectors (ATX style and the 4 pin connector?) Make sure you have all power connections.

Maybe you should never have entered this forum and posted a reply. If you don't like the post, don't read it. Did anyone force you to come in here and post? Are you obligated by some contract to reply to everyones post in off topic?

thanks Complacent. My thoughts exactly. U don't need to click on my post and respond if u don't like the topic. I ignore 99% of posts in off topic b/c they either don't interest me or are simply stupid.

And this is still what i think, what's the big deal? the mods will move it to the correct forum eventually anyways.

Thanks to all those that helped. Gonna go to fry's to exchange for a new board and get a new case.

I hope it's not the CPU problem, since it is a boxed new CPU. Are AMD 64 CPUs known to have problems?

Well, you got some things right and some things wrong. Let's review, shall we?

1) This IS Off Topic, however it's on a computer forum. What's defined as "on topic"? "On topic" would be anything ELSE that has a forum here. Like Software, Techsupport, Video, Networking, etc. What is defined as "Off Topic"? The things that do not fit into any other catagories.

Doh! Thanks for playing, Contestant! See you ladies and gentlemen at home again next week on.... (cues gameshow music)

And so you think it is okay to belittle someone because they feel tech support is too slow? I see a lot of stuff in off topic that could fit in other categories, including the persistent Official G-Mail thread listed in Off Topic by the moderator. Isn't G-mail a software application though? Wow, how the fvck did that get in off topic? Go bitch at the moderator for that one.

I asked you if you were forced to answer, and you never replied. Please, tell me why it is such a burden on you for this to appear in off topic, and then explain to me why G-Mail isn't in software.

He's not obligated by contract, but judging by his post count, I believe he gets a fraction of a penny for every post he makes. He's rolling in the loose change as we speak!!! I heard RossMan and ElFenix have traded some of their money in for real paper bills!!!! hiiiiiiiiiiiiioooooooooooo

I wish my life was so empty and I was so lonely that I had time to post almost 40,000 messages on a board filled with 17 year old kids asking stupid questions about losing their virginity and debating Family Guy vs. Simpsons.

Boy, some people are so lucky.

First of all, if a mod makes a decision to allow something, bitching at them won't get anything other than banning done. If you want to bitch at them, by all means please do.

Second, your demanded questions are fvcktardedly stupid... that's why I haven't answered.

You haven't answered them because you a) aren't smart enough b) don't have a real reason c) don't have a witty reply.

You haven't answered them because the questions a) could easily be answered with a little logic and common sense b) could easily be answered with a little logic and common sense or c) could easily be answered by a little logic and common sense.

Fixed. Seriously, noob, STFU.

Wow, that is awesome. Did you come up with the all by yourself? You can't think of a better name to call me? I pride myself on the fact that I don't have 40K posts. At what point did your virginity grow back (assuming it has been lost)?

OP, I had the same problem when I assembled my computer for the first time. Turned out it was a (brand new) yet fried PSU. I would advise hooking up a back-up or trying a new one. Did the same thing. Fans spun up for a second, the mobo's power light indicater was on, I had proper voltage to the molex connectors, but it could not power on. Replaced and worked awesome. But yes, that stand off is a real big issue if your having boot problems.

No, most likely a weak Power Supply.

Get one that is known to have a beefy 5 volt rail.

AMD chip runs between 125 -140 watts drain on the 5 volt, will kill a weak power supply everytime.
