Hey people. We got another round of unofficial beta drivers for you to test out! Great news indeed! For windows 98/ME it brings it up to version 4.13.7089 and for Windows 2000 it brings it up to 5.13.3114! (bigger upgrade than 3100 to 3102! )

These guys REALLY need a better server/connection.

they are cheap, what do you expect. all their host providers cutting them off which is why they were down so much a few months ago

I recommend you stay away from them for now... First tme I ever had problems w/ drivers...

the driver has been pulled till tomorrow/today, they are going to upload them again. there was corrupt driver in them.

I just installed them, it is possible via device manager and everything seems to be working fine.

Just delete the oem*.inf files in Winnt/Inf that refer to ATi to stop windows from installing the old drivers.

I got them to work by installing them manually. When I rebooted though, my screen was turned 90 degrees. WTF? It took a few minutes, but I figured out how to get it turned back to normal. I added the DWORD reg key &quot;Rotation&quot;=1, and it added the rotation tab to the display properties. It wasn't that hard to figure out, it just took a long time to figure out how to use my mouse sideways. Plus my neck kinda hurt.

Good grief.... Most of these drivers are hacked anyway, and not even made by ATI.

For once in this lifetime I would really like to see how, when and where these drivers are made. I'm imagining the 3 nerds from a Simpson's episode where Homer had to take physics 101. A million Radeon's sold from a multi-million dollar company but we are left at the mercy of Alvin, Marvin, and Habib that are using all of us as their private guinea pigs. God help us.

hclark, as mentioned I don't know how 2D could be improved, hence the . Well the new drivers are fine for the moment. I am going to do a little benchmarking tonight, I'll edit the post once I'm done.

As for the rotation thing, that sounds wierd. I installed them and rebooted, no such problems here.

Update: Since I setup the system last night for benchmarking it was a pretty good way to test the relative performance of the drivers. Nothing was changed, and overall the new drivers have little or no effect on the results. Some people have reported that they were a little more stable, but to me they seem identical to the 3100 set, IN OPENGL. I heard some major problems in UT were overcome with this release so hats off to ATi.

Just for the numbers here are the Q3 results (all results are the average of 3 runs Q3 1.27h).

All tests were identical, except for resolution - HQ, everything maxed except texture detail which was set to medium. Radeon LE with all tweaks @ 180/180.

800x600x32: 81.2 (3100), 81.5 (3114)
1024x768x32: 72.1 (3100), 72.7 (3114)

3dmark2k? ah heck off

If some other people could post some results, perhaps from some D3D games that would be great.
