There are limitations to that warranty though. Seagate has replaced a drive that had a fried board which I did.
For starters No company and I mean no company ever covers abuse, only some Insurance companies coverage that can be purchased on retail products. Trust me if Seagate could prove you abused your drive they wouldn't cover it, just as if WD couldn't prove you abused your drive they would have to cover it.
Think so? When I called them I told them that my PSU overvolted and burned the drive's PCB. They gave me an RMA number anyway.
Thats not abuse (you did say you fried it) and their personal beliefs mean nothing if they can't prove it. Maybe HDD drew to much or shorted, proof burns in that fried cap or other IC. Have you ever taken a computer to three techs and had three different answers on possible problems. Most techs when they hear a set of symptoms will decide whatever they think is the most likely problem.
Also Most companies always tell lvl 1 techs to never admit a failure in you product but don't accuse customer. By blaming the PSU they can come out smelling like roses. Its not their fault, your fault, and they replaced it anyways. Did they run tests on your PSU to see if their was an overvolting issue?
Nope but maxtor would not replace my other drive for the same problem. They said that their warranty didn't cover that issue or something. So Seagate sold me, plus I've had an SCSI Ultra-320 RAID-5 with Seagate Cheeta drives running for over 4 years 24/7 with no problems ever. Every drive has a warranty that expired well over 2 years ago.
but it says it is only SATA 150the manufacturer finally moves the Raptor series to a native SATA implementation complete with NCQ
the Raptor features a standard first-generation 150 MB/sec interface rather than the 300 MB/sec conduit found on many newer units

Right now, it's best to go with the 74 and get a cheap but bigger HD to equal the $300 price tag of the 150.
Only my input, though.

I'm not really a hater, but I refuse to pay over $.75 a gig for a HDD. That quickly disqualifies the raptor...

The only reason that I "hate" Raptors is because I spend too much time trying to assist people who take two of them and RAID 0 them and proceed to lose all their data because they didn't make backups.
