I just started seriously dating this girl about a month ago, and my last relationship was like 5 years long.

The first few months i know are always the best, so i was wondering how to keep that excited feeling longer?

How long before your relationship hit that comfort level and things got a little less exciting?

pic ... ? ... here.

14+ years for us and still going.

If it's the right match, it will stay exciting long after it becomes "comfortable".

My fiance and I were friends for about 2 years before we were together, and that's been about a year. It was comfortable on day one of our relationship, but never lacking excitement. We have more fun together now than ever I'd say.

New relationships can be exciting, but if it's an irrational excitement then that sounds more like infatuation to me. That inevitably ends, but it's the relationships that are comfortable that are the most rewarding, imo. Comfortable doesn't mean boring, either.

Agreed. Only been with my wife for 5 years now, and married for 2, but we still get chummy to see each other. Of course, deploying every other year keeps it fresh.

married 2 years and counting. Someone was talking to me about their relationship, and they said "you know when you reach that point where you've told all the stories and talked about everything you can think of". I looked at him and told him "honestly, no." There are times when my wife and I are on 1 - 1.5 hour drives, and we forget to turn the radio on in the car because we keep talking about something.

hehehehe. Every once in a while, my wife and I get to sleep together since we have opposite schedules. So when we do get to sleep in, it's a wonderful rarity. Both of us in bed by 9 pm doesn't sound bad at all.

I feel there is a difference of being comfortable enough with someone to bare your soul and getting into a rut of doing the same things, etc.

For me personally, it was a weird situation. We were dating for one year before we decided to move in together. So it was hard to not have that honeymoon period when we did not see each other everyday, etc.
When we moved in together, we found out things about each other that put us at ease but made us realize we were not just playing "house" either.

The key to keeping that feeling strong and still being comfortable with each other is to expereince new things with each other as much as possible.
Go to new places, try new things, etc. When you are put in an unknown situation with your s/o, it brings you closer because you both expereinced something first hand together.

I will be honest, i still get butterflies in my stomach when i see his car pull up in our driveway when he gets home from work or when he kisses me and we have been together for 7 years now.

I saw this thread last night, before there were any responses. Better answers than I expected from ATOT.

With my ex, it was until I noticed her pyschotic tendencies, or about 8 months.
With my current, stronger than ever at 8 months with no end in sight

for those who have been with their SO for a significant amount of time, is it still like the the first couple months that you were only dating?
