Where do I get the Ram, and how can I tell the stepping/batch on my P4 2.53?

I'll prolly be selling my mem tomorrow since I've got some more on the way; PM me if yer interested. The stepping info is either stamped on the heatspreader or listed on the side of the box; would look like SL5xx, or something. The FPO/BATCH# on the side of the retail box is on the bottom left of the sticker. Hope that helps.

Rhett: wow, your B0 o/c is sick! Your RAM is killer, too; I'm curious, when did you purchase it? The XMS3200 I got is from back in October and seems to do better than most ('cept yours). I've MemTest'ed it to DDR454, maybe higher but not much. I wonder if there's a way to create a bootable MemTest86 CD? I'm sure it could be done unless, of course, you were afraid your mem wouldn't pass at those speeds. (j/k)

Thanks alot for the compliments Erik, I appreciate it! I got my stick of RAM from New Egg, I believe I odered it the day after x-mas. Yeah I should the find away to get the Memtest on a cd and run it. But you're right, I almost don't wanna do it out of fear it might not pass My stepping info is SL6EU and FPO/BATCH# is 3234A693 pack date 11/22/02 but can I only get the week # off of the chip itself? Too much of a pain in the @ss to rip it out of the prometeia for that. Did I mention I'm doing this with a promie ?
It's my new baby

The chip is a BO stepping and it is a week 34. From the fpo/batch the second digit is the year and the third and fouth is the week.

is that what you were already running? or by my recommendation?
how is it running for you? benchmarks better? windows feel faster?

You provided the link for the offset settings.
That is the settings that I used from the start, when I noticed that the board defaulted to 2.5-3-3-7. Did'nt even mess with any slower timings.
Everything has passed every test that I can throw at it. The memory benchmarks and the whole system feels and is much quicker and more stable than with the BD7II. Even the load time.

Having a little problem with the ATI All in Wonder Radeon 8500 benching about 500pts lower than with BD7II board, but I have not had time to play with the drivers. Using the Catalyst 3.1 and not real concerned as the new ATI All in Wonder 9700 Pro 8X will be here tomorrow.

Seems the lock is working ok, but I will play with it.

I have been playing with wpcredit a little to see if I can find how to get the DRAM Idle Timer down from 16 clocks to 0 clocks.

Alright - the newbie is back... seems pastorjay is nice enough to sell me his c1 2.4b; and tonight newegg got the 8x-delux in... only thing left is the memory then i'll be set.

will need some guidance on bios settings though....

EDIT: 220 shipped at gameve.com much better than newegg's price, and i don't feel comfortable going w/ bzboyz or one of their "affiliates" (other names).
------ still looking for memory

you guys will catch up

we're talking about hacking the registry for cas settings~
(cause the board has them locked out)

and that there is a problem with the AGP lock = auto setting
(it doesnt use a 1/5 pci divider above 165fsb)

Man thats a sweet 2.4b. Ive tried two C1s - week 38 and week 45.
In both cases the best they could get to on low volts (under 1.7) is
2.9

Okay, so I ran this C1 on my P4B533 (w/stock cooling, not H2O) and the highest it would do, stable, is 3.2GHz:Q! I was so disappointed that I didn't even run benchies and I may not even bother. Looking forward to getting my H2O rig back together so that I can reunite it with my P4G8X.

I wonder what my C1 1.8A would do on GB. . .

Wow... that's strange... I was fully expecting above 195 for sure... I take it that heat wasn't the issue at all, right? May be you've killed your P4B after pushing it with the mobile chip..?

I'll test out that C1 1.8A for ya~

Interestingly enough, I've always had a feeling that there is some setting or combination of settings which is getting in the way of my max o/c on the P4B533. For example, my C1 1.8A will do 2844 at default voltage, P95 all day/night, but will not budge over that no matter how much voltage I throw at it or how much I relax the settings. I'll be curious to see how far I can get it to run on the P4G8X.
